Nintendo Wii U - Will You Be Getting One?

…may not get to see this box by the end of this year.

The Nintendo Wii U media blitz has kicked into high gear now.

The official Wii U Facebook page!

The special incentives like the deluxe digital promotion!

The countdown to November 18!

Are you hooked? Thinking about buying? Here are the facts:

This new Wii U next generation, high definition game console will release on November 18, 2012 in two versions:

Backwards compatibility for Wii games (sorry not GameCube games) plus you can use the Wii controllers.

A big convenience factor with the ”asymmetric” game play where each player can have different goals, challenges and views within the same shared gaming experience.

The Gamepad controller has great dual analog stick controls and can be used as a remote control for users’ TVs, even while the Wii U console is turned off. Miiverse network service for free.

Look at the deluxe set price. HDMI cables usually cost around $15. The stand and cradle cost $19.99 separately.  Wii U games cost $59.99 separately. Almost $100 in extras right there. The original Nintendo Wii console cost $249.99. Total = $349.99…sounds about right plus money back for game purchases through the deluxe digital promotion 10% back in redeemable points for Wii U games, Wii U download codes, and all downloaded Nintendo eShop content (website launches in December 2012).

Given the WiiU’s possibilities, the price is right…now I have to get one.

OK. I access the following link from Nintendo’s website at 7:17 p.m. EST on November 1, 2012. GameStop? Nope. Sold out. Same situation for Best Buy. Toys R Us says check back soon. Sears and Kmart will offer email notifications if you don’t currently have pre-order options in your area. A Wal-Mart search results in “unknown product”.

Mission failed. As of now, I cannot purchase or even pre-order a Wii U. Am I bummed? Yes. Is this craze worth it? Right now only if I nab one and sell it for the four times the price to another big Nintendo fan.

What do you think? Will you be getting a Wii U?
