What does Super Stickman Golf 2 and The Godfather: Part II have in common? If you guessed that they’re both sequels, well yes, that’s true, but there’s something even better! They are both sequels that are greater than their predecessors. Is it a little too early to call, since SSG2 is only in beta testing? Probably, however the game is already so polished that you can tell how well it’s going to do. There are many great additions to the original gameplay that it still feels like the same game you loved, yet it also feels like a sequel.

Noodlecake Studios has been working hard on the upcoming physics-based golfing game, and it shows. I’ve been lucky enough to help in the beta testing process, and it looks like they’ve got another winner on their hands. The formula remains the same, you have two buttons with which to aim in a 180 degree aiming radius, one button to start your swing and choose your swing strength. You also have a number of power ups to choose from, including the sticky ball, ice ball, and other new, exciting power ups like a lazer ball and a magnet ball.

New additions to the game include new golfers, meaning that you can play as a zombie golfer, or even a tastefully nude golfer. There are also hats which your golfer can wear; these add different abilities like a slower swing gauge or no added strokes for landing in the water. Hats are earned when you use your golf bux in the “Hat Lottery,” where the more golf bux you insert the better chance you have at winning a hat. If you’re new to SSG, golf bux are earned during the game by completing certain challenges or finding them throughout the holes. New golfers are unlocked as you reach different levels. Levels are determined by XP, which are earned by completing courses, challenges, etc.

Another new feature that I’m thrilled about is the addition of asynchronous multiplayer. This is another multiplayer mode on top of the previously existing Race Mode. Asynchronous multiplayer lets you play against your friends even if you’re both not available at the same time. You play the first hole, and then wait for your friend to play the 1st and 2nd holes. Then you get to watch a replay of your friend’s play and then you play the 2nd and third holes. This continues, playing two holes at a time, until you finish all 9 holes. This is exactly what I had hoped it would be. Race Mode will remain the same, where there are no set turns and players race to get their ball in the cup as fast as possible.

Let’s just say that I’ve spent a pretty sizable amount of time playing this beta, and I can not wait for my friends to get their hands on it as well so that we can compete head-to-head. With it’s upgraded graphics, many challenges, achievements, and collectables, I foresee many hours spent trying to experience everything that this game has to offer. I’m going to stop right there, because there’s a lot more to the game than I’ve discussed here. We do need to leave some surprises for you guys!

Super Stickman Golf 2 does not have an official release date, however it should be coming to your phones soon, as the beta version already feels almost ready to release.

In the meantime, if you’d like to get your feet wet in the Super Stickman Golf world, you can purchase the original at the App Store or download for free at the Google Play store.
