As the buzz from the North American International Auto Show begins to wane, Lincoln (that other car company from Ford) has unveiled to the world its next Navigator full-size SUV. Arriving this fall, the 2015 Lincoln Navigator (the Lincoln that does NOT use the “MK” nomenclature in its name) is all-new inside and out and will be powered by EcoBoost.

Navigator is the full-size luxury sport utility vehicle from Lincoln that competes directly with cross-town rival Escalade which will also be all-new later this year. In a significant departure from previous and current models, the new Navigator will only be powered by the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 EcoBoost engine said to deliver at least 370hp and 430 lb. ft. of torque to power the big rig that will still see three rows of seating for up to eight occupants.

Lincoln will still offer Navigator in rear- and four-wheel drive configurations but for 2015 the model will get Lincoln Drive Control featuring continuously controlled damping, electric power assist steering and an independent rear suspension that also allows for the third row of seats to fold completely flat into the load floor. The new Navigator will ride on 20-inch wheels standard with 22-inch wheels arriving on the new Reserve Package.

The all-new interior will feature new premium materials and accents along with leather throughout including the hand-wrapped instrument panel and glove box door. Lincoln will still offer an extended-length version to remain competitive in the segment and Navigator will feature all of the automaker’s latest technology including SYNC and MyLincoln Touch infotainment and driver connectivity systems.

No pricing or fuel economy figures have been released but expect them to be competitive with rivals. And as Navigator shares its platform with a Ford product (as all Lincoln models do) expect news of a new Expedition full-size SUV to be released in the near future.
