I recently reviewed the LED Spotlight from Rayovac. Luckily I got the opportunity to review the Virtually Indestructible LED 3D Lantern, also from the Virtually Indestructible family. The lantern boasts some of the same great features usable in a different format. Will the $29.99 lantern need to be added to your outdoor gear list? Let’s take a look.
The first thing I noticed with the Virtually Indestructible LED 3D Lantern is how heavy it is. While that may be a negative for outdoor gear, it also shows the rugged build quality of the product. The light is covered in the same rubberized material that made the spotlight feel so tough and includes a shatterproof lens and reflector. The lantern will run for 280 hours on the highest of three settings giving off 400 Lumens of light. When set on high, the light will give off 13 meters of bright LED light. Three D cell batteries power the light and Rayovac has included the first set in the package.
The LED 3D lantern is waterproof submersible and has been tested to the same 15 foot drop range as the spotlight. I performed similar tests getting the lantern wet as well as dropping it from above my head with no problems whatsoever. This light is strong and tough and perfect for any camping trip or emergency situation. A handle is included on the top for carrying and it sits nicely on a table since the rubberized material acts as a grip. The bottom side has a small hook hidden away in case the light is hung up. This is often how we utilize lanterns when we are camping.
The Rayovac Virtually Indestructible 3D Lantern is a perfect addition to must have camping gear. The light is super bright and adjustable and will run for a long time on just 3 D batteries. No need to worry about drops or getting the light wet since it truly is virtually indestructible. Summer is upon is and that means camping season. This lantern will for sure keep my site lit up with peace of mind.
