PDAir Leather Case for Zune HD Review

It’s no secret that we here at Gear Diary have enjoyed PDAir cases for many of our devices.  You can see some of our past reviews here, here, and here.   Oh, and here, too.  PDAir recently released several leather cases for the Zune HD and offered Gear Diary a chance to review a sample.  The new Zune HD styles include flip type, book type, sleeve type, and both vertical and horizontal pouch types.  I was sent a horizontal pouch case for review.

The horizontal pouch case has a simple design, with cushioned leather on the front and back that is held together with elastic sides. The case has white stitching, which adds  a nice accent.  The only other adornment is the PDAir logo stamped on the front of the case.

There’s a cutout on the bottom of the case, making it easy to use a finger to push the Zune up and out of the case far enough to grab it with your fingers.  When your Zune HD is in the case, you won’t have access to the controls, but the elastic on the sides is positioned in a way that allows you to plug in headphones and listen to music.

The latch is magnetic, which I always find preferable to Velcro or snaps.  The magnet is strong enough the provide secure closure without being difficult to use.

The horizontal pouch comes with an integrated belt clip.  What I liked about the belt clip is that it’s deep enough to extend over a reasonably wide belt – not just narrow dress belts.

It’s hard not to like the PDAir horizontal pouch case for the Zune HD.  It’s simple and easy to use and it doesn’t pretend to be something that it isn’t.   If you’re looking for a reasonably priced leather case for your Zune HD, check out PDAir’s range of styles.

The PDAir horizontal pouch case for the Zune HD is available directly from the manufacturer.

MSRP: $28

What I Like: Simple design that provides good protection.

What Needs Improvement:  No case is perfect, but given the simplicity of the horizontal pouch case, it’s hard to find much that needs improvement.  It would be nice, though, to have color options beyond basic black.  Several other cases made by PDAir are available in alternative colors and textures.
