Want to see the all-new 2013 Ford Fusion sedan? Ford has an app for that.

The automaker has released iOS and Android smartphone and device apps to tease the eventual unveil of the vehicle that will occur in the app simultaneously as it does on stage at two stellar events.

The 2013 Ford Fusion (which has been named the official car of CES 2012) will be unveiled at both the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month as well as the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

These are two of the biggest shows held in the U.S. each year and Ford has been utilizing CES more and more each year as technology in vehicles has progressed.

The Ford Fusion App, which is described as an “augmented reality game app,” has its own webpage as well as a tutorial video (below) explaining the app and its purpose.

“We want to have an exciting and interactive way to build anticipation leading up to the reveal of the all-new Fusion,” said Samantha Hoyt, Fusion Marketing manager. “The app allows consumers to learn about the advanced technology and design of the car in a fun and easy-to-use way while reinforcing the transformative nature of the Fusion.”

With the app users can use the Ford Big Blue Oval (either touched on screen or scanned from a vehicle or webpage) to unlock a virtual world teasing the next Fusion and allowing users to drive several versions of the car and each day it will unlock a new image of the new vehicle.

Ford collaborated with Moonbot Studios on development of the app.
