I received a review sample of the Chrome Niko Camera Pack backpack a few weeks ago, andI’ve been using it on and off since them. I loved the fact that the backpack came with a handwritten note that encouraged me to “be hard on the bag”. Always one to take direction well (okay not really) I have been doing just that.

How has the bag done? Let’s just say I’m impressed by everything this backpack has to offer right down to the durability. Yes, it is one tough pack, and Chrome’s “365 To Life warranty” reflects that fact. (You can read the details on the 365 To Life warranty by clicking here.)

The Chrome Niko Camera Pack backpack is designed to carry your camera gear, assorted accessories, a 15″ MacBook pro and more. And while the squarish shape of the bag lets it stand out in a crowded space, as we will see, the design also has its practical applications. The Chrome Niko Camera Pack backpack is made from a weatherproof denier nylon outer shell and military grade truck tarpaulin liner. I don’t fully understand what those specifics fabrics are but I do know they make one strong, reliable bag.

Let’s take a look at the Chrome Niko Camera Pack backpack on camera, and then we’ll run down a few specifics.

The Chrome Niko Camera Pack Backpack stands out thanks to its angular design. Some might not like the look, but I do. I also like the middle ground it hits by being just a little too small to carry serious gear and not quite so large that it weighs too much. Picture Goldilocks and the three bears; this camera bag is “just right”.

The backpack has a main compartment that can be accessed from the left or right side. You can also open the entire area up. This is helpful when you need to organize the bag and move the dividers around. Opening the entire compartment also exposes a few small organizing areas. These aren’t extensive, but they are there.

The top compartment zips open to reveal a small but useful area that can store an iPad mini, additional accessories or a jacket. You can also unzip the bottom of this compartment and access the main area of the bag. The flexibility is quite useful.

Finally there are large front velcro straps that can be used to secure something like a tripod or skateboard.

Shoulder straps with an EVA foam back panel for “improved fit and breathability”, a sternum strap and D-Rings on each strap add to the flexibility of the Chrome Niko Camera Pack Backpack.

The Chrome Niko Camera Pack Backpack is made from a weatherproof 1000 denier nylon outer shell, has a 600 D interior lining with 10mm padded foam, and it is all secured with nylon thread and waterproof urethane YKK zippers. In other words, this pack is built to be able to withstand years of use and abuse.

As I mentioned earlier, the squarish design of the Chrome Niko Camera Pack backpack is visually striking, but it is also practical. The design creates a box-like area at the top that serves as a quick access, top loading compartment. It is perfect for an iPad mini and assorted accessories, a windbreaker or other small but essential on-the-go items.
