I recently took my oldest son and a few of his buddies to Incredible Pizza in San Antonio for his 5th birthday.  We started with the pizza of course, but the boys could hardly contain themselves just staring into the game room.  Once I let them hit the games, we headed straight for the skee-ball.  They decided tickets were what they were after so they could get some wax lips and parachute men, you know the good stuff.  I can think of no better way to earn tickets in a game room than play skee-ball.  The game has been one of my favorites since I was my son’s age.

Now Skee-Ball is available for the iPhone and you will see after the break, it is just as addictive!!

Skee-Ball! Bring the fun of the boardwalk to the palm of your hand with 3D graphics, great physics, and awesome prizes. A true American classic.

With a quick flick, roll the ball up the ramp and into one of the numbered holes for points, tickets, and unlockable achievements.

Win enough tickets and go on a shopping-spree for fun prizes like a set of vampire teeth, a Peruvian Flute Band CD, or even a custom ball to use in-game. Over 80 prizes in all.

As seen in the above screen shot, Skee-Ball is the same recognizable game found in pizza places or board walks across the country.  If you have never played skee-ball, the game is simple.  Roll the balls up the ramp and into the holes.  Each hole is worth a different number of points with the larger point values assigned to the more difficult holes to reach.  On the score board is a Bonus number which will increase the score by the value shown.  To raise the value, make the ball into a lighted hole.  The picture above shows the 30 hole lit up.

The physics of the game are super realistic.  Roll the ball with a simple flick of the finger.  The balls are easy to aim and a tilt of the phone adds a little spin.  Get in a groove and start piling up the points.  When I get on a roll, I always have to go “one more time.”  It gets ridiculous!

On top of just the joy of playing skee-ball, each game will earn tickets which can be traded in for fabulous prizes.  Earning digital spider rings and bouncy balls are not really my thing, but my five year old son loves choosing the prizes.  Another great feature is the online high score ranking.  I find myself working to climb the list only to drop each time I stop playing for an extended time.  This means the next time I play, there are more and more “one more times.”

If you love the old game of skee-ball as well as being highly addicted to a game, you must try this one out.  Skee-Ball can be found here for $.99 in the app store.

What I like: It is skee-ball!  The game physics are really good and the game is just down right addictive.

What could be improved: Add names for the online high scores.
