One of the best things about the release of a new iPhone design is the commensurate release of new Element Case cases. We’re huge fans of their products and the Element Case Soft-Tec Case for iPhone 6 is a reminder why. The folio-style case is thin, light, highly protective, nicely functional and, perhaps best of all, it is under $50.We’ve previously reviewed this style of case for use with other iPhone models, but a few features of the iPhone 6 make this case a better option than ever.
More on that in a bit!
On cases such as the Soft-Tec and the ION for iPhone 6 (review coming shortly), Element Case has simplified their packaging. It now consists of a simple box, a plastic insert with a soft-touch coating and a plastic slipcover. It reduces waste and makes it easier than ever to get your new iPhone case out of the box and on your phone where it belongs.
The case itself looks rather simple. Don’t be fooled. The “Tech Grip” material used for the cover is just the beginning of what this case has going for it. This case is highly protective, doubles as a desk stand for landscape viewing and is ideal for use in conjunction with Apple’s upcoming Apple Pay.
From Element Case:
Soft-Tec’s popularity isn’t just from its good looks. Soft-Tec gets our vote because it’s smartly designed and ultra-protective. Your phone is safely cocooned in our unique wraparound design complete with a useful credit card slot. The tough outer Tech Grip™ material ensures your handhold is firm while our plush synthetic suede liner protects your screen. A high impact rubber tone shell cradles your phone for enhanced security. Give a thumbs up for smart design!
The use of the Tech Grip material on both the front and the back of the case translates into a case that is easy to grab and keep hold of. It doesn’t look rugged and (IMHO) unrefined like the Speck CandyShell Grip my wife Elana swears by but it offers grip nonetheless. The phone itself, however, is held secure by a “high impact rubber tone shell.” The combination not only looks great but it works well too!
Features:
- Slim, lightweight design
- Durable Tech-Grip covering
- Plush synthetic suede interior
- Card Slot
- Easy access to buttons and jacks
- Stand for adjustable viewing angle
- Designed in California
Video Review of the Element Case Soft-Tec Case for iPhone 6
The inside of the cover has a card slot that can easily hold a license and perhaps one additional card. I’ve never been a huge fan of wallet-style iPhone cases but that may change in the coming weeks. The release of Apple Pay will mean the ability to increasingly use the iPhone as a method of payment. Sure it will be more secure than standard credit cards– ours got hacked last month to the tune of $17,000!– but it also means that an iPhone and a form of ID are all one needs when heading out for the day. Suddenly Wallet-style cases make perfect sense!
And there’s more!
The iPhone 6 is significantly larger than any iPhone that came before it. That makes for a far better viewing experience when consuming media on the phone. The Element Case Soft-Tec Case for iPhone 6 doubles as a stand that holds the iPhone in landscape. This added bit of convenience is rather nice to have available. Even if you only use this feature once in a while you’ll be glad it is there when you do.
The Element Case Soft-Tec Case for iPhone 6 is a superb case for the smaller of the two new iPhones. It offers sleek good looks, adds a good degree of protection to the iPhone; doubles as a stand and is a nice complement to Apple Pay. Add in the fact that the case is under $50 and you have a home run for Element Case. Learn more and order yours here.
