Michael’s Proves Those Coupons Are a Raw Deal

Sarah and I went to Michael’s craft store this morning to shop for frames. As we walked in, Sarah received an email offering 25% the whole store tonight, so we picked out what we liked, and Sarah planned to return during the sale. When she got there, she discovered the frames she liked had mysteriously increased in price by 15%!

Here is the frame we saw at 10:30 this morning:

And the same frame during the “sale”:

Both labels show the same SKU. This is clearly the same frame, but pre-sale it was $3.00 cheaper than during the sale.

Here is the email advertising the sale:

Overall, a sneaky and slimy move by Michael’s!

  1. Wow, that’s some chutzpah!

  2. Michael’s is not the only one. I have some clear Christmas ornaments from Hobby Lobby that I decorate sometimes and they are the same size, same packaging, same SKU and two different prices.
