Earlier this year, Husqvarna USA ran an online contest called Automower First. Thousands of Americans entered, hoping to get the opportunity to test a Husqvarna Automower and post reviews on social media about their Automower throughout the summer. I was lucky enough to be one of about 40 Americans to be chosen by Husqvarna to join the Automower First campaign!
An Automower is exactly what you might think it is…it’s a robot that mows your lawn! Husqvarna has spent years perfecting the Automower’s design and they have re-released the robotic lawn mowers into the wild. Imagine if you will, a Roomba that cuts your lawn. That’s the best comparison I can make. It’s very self-sufficient, it has a charging station with which it automatically docks when the battery is low. You set a schedule for the Automower, say between the hours of 7am and 5pm, and it just mows without human intervention.
My Automower 450X was installed last week, and it’s been smooth sailing so far, except for a few hiccups the first day.
Check out my installation video, below:
Automower features include the ability to cut lawns up to 1.25 acres, extremely quiet operation, the ability to cut the lawn in the rain, iOS/Android app integration with GPS tracking, headlights on some models, a whole slew of safety features, and more. Husqvarna’s Automowers are built very differently from traditional lawn mowers; they do not use heavy spinning blades. Instead, for safety reasons, they use small razor blades that spin out of the way if they come into contact with a hard object. Disclosure: Although Husqvarna has provided me with an Automower 450X for free as part of the Automower First program, all opinions expressed are my own. I am not required to say nice things about the Automower, I’m only required to post to social media in order to keep the Automower after the conclusion of the Automower First program.
