The Lowdown
The Yamaha TW-E5B True Wireless Earbuds are really well-designed ergonomically as they conform to your ear, allowing for a proper seal for excellent sound as well as a secure fit. I can shake my head around, and they barely move at all.

Yamaha has always been known for quality audio-visual equipment, and these new wireless earbuds don’t break from that mold. The Yamaha TW-E5B True Wireless Earbuds offer great sound detail, crystal-clear calls, IPX5 water (and sweat) resistance, and 30 hours of total battery life. Retailing at $149.95, they’re a great option if you’re in the market.
My first thought after opening the Yamaha TW-E5B True Wireless Earbuds was that the charging case reminded me of a little speaker with its faux grill-style top. It’s a nice touch, and the charging case is a great size to stuff in your pockets to take with you on the go.
Opening up the case, you’ll find that the exterior of the earbuds shares a design aesthetic with the charging case, with the speaker grill styling, plus they also added the Yamaha logo. The wireless earbuds fit nicely in the charger, and the slots are tagged “L” and “R,” so you know which earbud goes where.
The Yamaha TW-E5B True Wireless Earbuds are designed to offer high-performance sound quality for music and podcasts while providing excellent phone call quality. There’s an ambient sound option where you can choose to allow ambient sound into your headphones so you can be aware of your surroundings when you want to.
Yamaha included a Listening Care feature that allows you to experience a full range of sound, even at lower volume levels, thanks to intelligently and automatically adjusting the EQ.
These true wireless earbuds also feature Qualcomm’s cVc (clear voice capture) technology to provide excellent noise suppression and echo canceling for great voice quality when making phone calls.
The Yamaha TW-E5B True Wireless Earbuds feature a dynamic 7mm driver with a 20 Hz-20 kHz frequency response. They’re also rated IPX5 for water resistance, so they’re great for exercising, even if it starts to rain.
Each earbud weighs 0.23 ounces and features Bluetooth V5.2 with a max communication range of 32.8 feet without interference.
These earbuds have a max playback time of 30 hours; they’ll get 8.5 hours on a single charge, plus the charging case provides another 21.5 hours of battery power.
A nice feature is that you can squeeze out one hour of playback time on a 10-minute charge if you run out and need a quick power-up. The Yamaha TW-E5B True Wireless Earbuds take about 1.5 hours to fully charge, while the case takes about 2.5 hours.
You can use Siri or Google Assistant with the TW-E5B earbuds by holding the minus button for 1 second.
The Yamaha TW-E5B True Wireless Earbuds come with a 30cm long USB A to C cable for charging and four sets of eartips, ranging from extra small to large.
I’ll be honest that I’m typically not too fond of true wireless earbuds, including Apple’s Airpods, because they never fit well in my ears, and I’m always worried they’ll fall out. True story, I almost lost an Airpod once in the middle of a New York City street.
The Yamaha TW-E5B True Wireless Earbuds are really well-designed ergonomically as they conform to your ear, allowing for a proper seal for excellent sound as well as a secure fit. I can shake my head around, and they barely move at all.
My experience with the Yamaha TW-E5B True Wireless Earbuds has been extremely positive, especially considering I don’t typically love this type of headphone design. They fit really well, produce high-quality sound, and are great for phone calls.
They also can last up to 8.5 hours on a single charge, which is perfect for commuting or a long bike ride. Not to mention, they’re pretty nice looking! For $149.95, I think they’re a great value if you’re in the market for a set of true wireless earbuds.
The Yamaha TW-E5B True Wireless Earbuds sell for $149.95; they are available directly from the manufacturer.
