Do you want to see your kids’ eyes light up with the joy only an unexpected holiday present can provide? The Razor MX350 Dirt Rocket did just that when it showed up at our house for review. Our kids’ eyes widened; they screamed with delight and ran outside to take it for a ride in their pajamas.

Razor MX350 Dirt Rocket

Retailing at $399.99, the Razor MX350 Dirt Rocket is best considered a small electric dirt bike. It’s designed to mimic the look of an authentic dirt bike, only at a smaller scale.

With 12” spoked wheels and pneumatic tires, the MX350 can handle many different types of terrain, though it lacks a true suspension system.

The Razor MX350 Dirt Rocket features a high-torque, chain-driven, rear-wheel-drive motor that can propel your child up to 14 miles per hour in high-speed mode and 10 miles per hour in low-speed mode.

The motor is powered by two 12V sealed lead-acid (lithium-ion) batteries totaling 24V of power that can last up to 30 minutes on high speed and 60 minutes on low speed. Razor recommends a 12-hour charge to fully charge the batteries.

The Razor MX350 Dirt Rocket’s throttle has a twist grip on the right handlebar, and the rear brake is operated by a lever on the left handlebar. Each handle has a soft rubber grip, perfect for kids. The handlebars are also adjustable and can rotate up and down, depending on the rider(s) ‘s height.

The frame is made of steel, and it features a double-crown steel fork with folding metal footpegs and a retractable kickstand. We love that the foot pegs fold up onto the body, ensuring you don’t bang your shins every time you walk by in a tight garage.

The maximum recommended rider weight is 140 pounds, but I was surprised that at 185 pounds,  I could ride it. The recommended ages are 8+ in low-speed mode and 13+ in high-speed mode, though my kids, ages 7 and 10, were able to handle high-speed mode just fine after some time getting used to the bike.

I was really impressed at how easy the Razor MX350 Dirt Rocket is to ride for kids, even those who haven’t driven a motorized bike before.

The Razor MX350 Dirt Rocket is a great entry-level motorized bike; whether you’re looking for a dirt bike or an electric bicycle, it gives your kids a great first step with a bike that’s not too powerful.

The 14 mph max speed ensures your kids don’t go too fast while the bike is light enough that it’s easy to handle, and, worst case, if the bike falls over on them, it won’t hurt too much. The size of the bike is perfect for a small garage as well, ensuring you can store it in small areas.

My kids are expert riders after only a few weeks with the Razor MX350 Dirt Rocket. They’re safe but have a ton of fun riding around the neighborhood on their MX350. I wish it had a rearview mirror for safety, but there are plenty of inexpensive ones available on Amazon that can be easily installed.

I also wish the bike had a suspension to cushion rough terrain, a feature available on larger bikes, but the pneumatic tires help with small bumps.

Additionally, like many ride-ons with similar lithium-ion batteries, the runtime is short, and the recharge timeframe is long.

It’s not a huge deal, but you need to plan around it, especially if you have multiple kids looking to take turns.

Overall, we think the Razor MX350 Dirt Rocket is an awesome electric dirt bike for kids with a great list of features that ensure kids between 8 and 14 don’t get too far ahead of themselves with speed and power. The small bike is easy for kids to get used to, handle, and have fun riding.
