Qualcomm Updates for Snapdragon X AI PCs, Garmin Unified Cabin, and On-Prem AI Solutions for 2025

While tech giants like Google, Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon dominate our daily conversations, Qualcomm quietly powers the backbone of much of our technology. From the processors driving our smartphones to the AI shaping our devices and the connectivity enabling the Internet of Things, Qualcomm plays a role behind the scenes. Their innovations extend beyond mobile devices, influencing everything from cloud computing to smart home systems. With advancements like the Snapdragon X platform for AI PCs, Qualcomm continues to shape the future of accessible technology, proving that the most impactful tech companies aren’t always the most visible.

Snapdragon X

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platform is ubiquitous in high-end mobile devices, and the newest platform for Snapdragon X is AI PCs. Specifically, they’re bringing an affordable architecture allowing OEMs to design and sell $600~ Copilot PCs so everyone can access AI power.

One big focus is on mini desktop designs, which are perfect for businesses and places where you need a desktop and some power but don’t have a lot of space. Another area where the new Snapdragon X will shine is with affordable laptops, which won’t mean balancing your budget with your computer needs. It is perfect as a secondary computer for households or a solid student choice!

Look for computer makers to start using Snapdragon X this year to take their affordable computers to the next AI level!

Qualcomm Aware

One of the benefits of having everything connected under one platform, like Qualcomm, is that you get to leverage that to track everything. Qualcomm Aware is a tool that can help locate devices, pinpoint if you’re behind on a firmware update, and determine where getting from point A to point B is breaking down into inefficiency.

We talk a lot about the Internet of Things (IoT), and this is where it shines. Suppose you’re using a Qualcomm device in your warehouse and have Qualcomm devices on your trucks and in your back office. In that case, everything can be managed from one place and talk to each other, reducing the frictions that come from being a highly connected but geographically huge planet.

Garmin Unified Cabin 2025

Have you noticed how every car has its quirks and systems? Even with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, there are still times when you have to navigate the car’s systems. Most of these require far too many menus to access while driving or even sitting in a parking lot.

Enter the Garmin and Qualcomm collaboration, which is the Unified Cabin. This way, instead of disparate systems, everything is controlled by one “brain.” Thanks to Garmin’s savvy with cars and GPS systems and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Cockpit Elite platform, car makers can make everything more streamlined and accessible. Smart voice assistants will actually be able to be smarter; you won’t need an engineering PhD to connect your devices to your car, and with fewer things refusing to cooperate, you’ll have fewer distractions and safer driving.

On-Prem AI Solution

One of the big hesitations about using AI is how it relates to privacy. In theory, it’s great that businesses can have AI handy to ensure they’re covering all possibilities or quickly searching databases to ensure they didn’t miss anything. On the other hand, do you really want some of that information in the cloud, even if it’s anonymized?

Qualcomm recognizes a disconnect here, so the on-premises AI solution offers hardware that can run offline for basic chatbot and workflow automation services. It’s not going to replace a full generative AI, but if you’re a restaurant using AI to manage inventory or a warehouse trying to use AI to be more productive, it’s the perfect solution. It keeps your data private but still lets you leverage the power of AI for your work.

The vision is that Qualcomm’s infrastructure can be used with a small desktop or wall device to manage AI across the local network. This would offer all the benefits of AI and lessen the fear that we’re six months away from a “Terminator” situation.

  1. Love the integration of Garmin in the system, and I appreciate the more affordable price points for many of us that want a quality name-brand system, without taking out a second mortgage out on our home 🙂

  2. I’m interested to see if and when non-x86 PC’s, like those using the Snapdragon X, will really become popular
