The MOFT Dynamic Folio iPad Case does more than protect an iPad. It turns the device into a more adaptable tool for work, reading, browsing, note-taking, and travel. The origami-inspired design is not just a visual gimmick; it’s the reason this case feels more useful than a typical folio.

The MOFT Dynamic Folio iPad Case is one of those accessories that looks simple at first glance, but gets more interesting the more you use it. It’s designed for iPads and uses a foldable, magnetic, origami-inspired cover to create multiple stand positions. Add in the optional modular Apple Pencil holder, and you end up with a case that’s trying to do a lot more than basic front-and-back protection.
After taking a close look at the MOFT Dynamic Folio iPad Case, the biggest takeaway is that it’s flexible, thoughtfully designed, and surprisingly practical for real everyday use. It’s not perfect, but it does a lot right. Let’s take a closer look.
What Is It?
The MOFT Dynamic Folio iPad Case is a folding folio-style case for a variety of iPad models. It combines a protective shell with a folding front cover that can be transformed into several viewing and working positions, including landscape, portrait, elevated, and even lap-friendly setups.
There’s also an optional magnetic modular Apple Pencil holder that attaches to the case and secures the Apple Pencil to the case while still allowing it to charge from the side of the iPad.

First Impressions and Materials
Out of the box, the MOFT Dynamic Folio case makes a good first impression. The outer surface has a soft, slightly leather-like texture with a subtle grain that helps it look and feel a bit more refined than a plain smooth cover. The inside is black, and the back section includes a plastic shell that snaps around the iPad.
One of the first things that stands out is the pattern of fold lines built into the cover. Those lines are the whole point of this design. They let the folio bend into different shapes so the case can switch roles depending on what you’re doing.
The optional Pencil holder attaches along the side area of the case. It’s made of steel, and while the magnet in the folio isn’t extremely strong, it’s strong enough to stay put in normal use. Once the iPad is installed, the overall setup feels more secure because the tablet itself helps keep everything aligned.
A Quick Note on Fit
There was one hiccup during setup: the first sample that MOFT sent me turned out to be the wrong version for my iPad Pro – it didn’t fit. A replacement was sent, and that one fit correctly. That’s worth mentioning for one practical reason: make absolutely sure you order the version that matches your exact iPad model.
Once the correct case was in hand, the iPad snapped into the shell properly, and the camera cutout lined up as it should.
How the Modular Apple Pencil Holder Works
The MOFT Dynamic Folio iPad Case’s optional holder is a nice add-on if you use an Apple Pencil regularly. It attaches magnetically to the case and gives the Pencil a dedicated place to rest along the side. Even better, the Pencil can still charge because it remains connected to the side of the iPad where charging normally happens.
That’s an important detail. Some Pencil storage solutions protect the stylus but interfere with charging or make it awkward to remove. This one seems to strike a good balance between accessibility and convenience.
The folio cover also sticks out slightly when closed, giving you a small lip to grab when opening the case. That works fine, although there isn’t a strap or closure that wraps around to keep the cover securely shut.
Design and Features
This is where the MOFT Dynamic Folio iPad Case begins to set itself apart from a standard folio. Instead of giving you one or two fixed stand angles, it uses magnets and folding panels to support several useful positions.
The basic idea is simple: parts of the cover fold inward, and circular icons point on the flap where it will mate with a matching point on the back. Once those pieces click together, the case holds its shape and becomes a stand.
MOFT includes printed diagrams in the packaging, showing a whole collection of possible configurations. In practice, a few of them are likely to be the ones most people actually use every day.
1. Elevated Landscape Mode
One of the most useful setups is to raise the iPad at an angle in landscape orientation. This is a great option for desk use, especially if you’re pairing the tablet with a separate keyboard or using it next to another monitor.
It gives the iPad a more workstation-like feel and makes the screen easier to see without hunching over it.
2. Reversed Landscape Mode
You can also flip the setup in the other direction for a different landscape orientation. That flexibility is handy because not every desk, lap, or workflow benefits from exactly the same angle.
It’s a small thing, but it adds to the impression that this case was designed for people who actually move around and use their iPads in different ways throughout the day.
3. Two-Screen Helper Mode
One of the more clever configurations lets you rest a phone on top of the iPad. In the example shown, an iPhone sits at the top while the iPad remains propped below it.
That might sound a little niche, but it actually makes sense if you’re working with messages, notes, reference material, or notifications on one device while using the other for your main task. It creates a compact little dual-screen setup without any extra stand.
4. Keyboard-Friendly Desk Mode
Pair the case with a travel keyboard, and it becomes a legitimate mobile productivity setup. A compact keyboard like the Keychron model mentioned works especially well here, because the iPad can stay elevated while the keyboard sits separately in front.
This is one of the stronger arguments for the MOFT Dynamic Folio iPad Case. It doesn’t try to turn the iPad into a laptop clone. Instead, it supports the way many people already prefer to use a tablet: with a detached keyboard, adjustable screen position, and a little more freedom in how everything is arranged.
5. Low-Angle Mode
By folding the bottom portion of the cover upward, you can create a lower position that lets the iPad rest more directly on a flat surface. This gives you another comfortable working or viewing angle and expands the number of places the case feels useful.
6. Portrait Orientation Mode
Another neat trick is the ability to slide part of the cover under the magnetic flap so the iPad can stand in portrait orientation. That’s great for reading, document review, browsing, social feeds, or any app that feels more natural in vertical orientation.
Not every folio case handles portrait mode well, so this adds real value rather than just another gimmick.
7. Lap/Knee Mode
One of the most interesting configurations is designed for use on your knee when you’re sitting with your legs crossed. It sounds oddly specific, but it’s actually a very practical travel feature.
For airport seating, waiting rooms, or anywhere you don’t have a proper table, this setup gives the iPad a stable, hands-free position that looks genuinely comfortable. You can even use the Apple Pencil in this orientation, which makes it more than just a media-consumption trick. This turned out to be my favorite way to use the folio.
These are just a few of the many ways to use this case.
What It’s Like to Use the MOFT Dynamic Folio Day to Day
In daily use, the best thing about the MOFT Dynamic Folio iPad Case is that it encourages you to actually use your iPad in more ways. Some cases protect the tablet well but make it feel static. This one feels more dynamic, which is exactly what the name suggests.
At a desk, the elevated orientation is especially useful as a second screen alongside a MacBook or external monitor. For travel, the lap-friendly fold looks like one of those features you might not think about until you need it once, and then you keep using it.
The case also avoids one minor annoyance that some folio covers create: microfiber interiors that collect lint and pet hair. In this design, that’s not an issue, which will be a small but welcome benefit for anyone living with shedding pets like my American Bobtail, Ozzy.

Final Thoughts
The MOFT Dynamic Folio iPad Case does more than protect an iPad. It turns the device into a more adaptable tool for work, reading, browsing, note-taking, and travel. The origami-inspired design is not just a visual gimmick; it’s the reason this case feels more useful than a typical folio.
There are a couple of minor complaints. A securing strap would have been welcome, and the lifted edges on the folded-back cover might bother detail-oriented users. But those are relatively small issues next to how flexible and well-thought-out the overall design is.
If you like using your iPad in different positions and orientations rather than always flat on a desk, the MOFT Dynamic Folio iPad Case is an easy recommendation. For this reviewer, it quickly earned “new favorite” status, and it’s not hard to see why.
The MOFT Dynamic Folio iPad Case retails for 59.00; it is available directly from the manufacturer and other retailers, including Amazon.
