Sennheiser MM50 IP Headset for iPhone

I’m always on the quest to find new headphones to use with my phones and as we all know the headphone set that comes with the iPhone are most inadequate to the task. In my own case, I couldn’t keep them in my ear!

Included in the package are extra sets of ear buds, Small and Large with Medium already installed on the headset.

As for bass, equaliser and other musical review, I’m a poor choice as my hearing is a bit mediocre, but as a phone headset I was able to hear very clearly without interference noises.

The microphone end/start call function worked quite well, with no complaints from my listeners other than my usual ability to drone on and on. Minimal Remote functions for using the iPod music function allow you to skip tracks (forward only) and pause/play.  Of course the  music gets interrupted with a phone call and then resumes after the end of the call.  The ability to swap calls also exists

The wiring is unique in that the main wire from the plug to the Divider Y is supposed be tangle free which is true, but from the Y to the ear is not of the same wiring so tangling occurred.

Plugging the headset into my Palm Treo Pro, I was pleased to see that it worked as well. Unfortunately, and not the headset’s fault, it did not fully function with my Nokia N85. When I plugged it into the N85, it treated it as a music accessory and did not allow for use as a microphone.  I had to use the phone microphone and did look a bit silly.

Perhaps we’ll see another In-Ear Headphone variation from Apple that works with the iPhone, as their current release only works with the iPods (not the new Shuffle). In the meantime, the Sennheiser MM50 does a great job.

The usual cautions exist.. Don’t use while driving, cycling, running, walking, and most especially; While talking F2F wih your significant other!

The Sennheiser MM50 IP Headset for iPhone is available from the Apple Store (on-line and brick and mortar)

MSRP: $99

What I Like: Excellent in-ear fit with multiple bud sizes; works with more than the iPhone; Comes in black or white

What Needs Improvement: Tangle Free wiring not full inclusive of the entire headset

Hi Darwin! To my untrained ear they sound great but my hearing is such that divining the bass amplitude and other fine tunings, alas I'm unable! 🙂
