Custom accessories are uber-popular right now. We’ve seen several of our favorite accessory manufacturers bring custom offerings into their collections over the last few months. One of the best of the bunch, iFrogz, has several items in its inventory which the company allows you to custom build to create your very own, one of a kind, item.
Before I left for CES 2010 iFrogz allowed me to custom build my very own pair of their Fallout headphones which I picked up while at the show. I’ve had a chance to uses them for a while now and wanted to share my thoughts.
The Fallouts are a mid-size headphone that are super comfortable to wear thanks to cushy ear pieces. The specifications on these headphone straight from iFrogz are as follows:
* Driver Unit: 40mm
* Impendance: 32 ohms
* Sensitivity: 120dB/-3dB at 1KHz
* Frequency Response: 30 Hz to 20 KHz
* Cord Length: 1.2M
Once you headed to the iFrogz web site and decided on the Fallouts you’ll be brought to their custom builder. There you’ll find a multitude of options from which you’ll be able to choose from to make your own creation.
Step one, choose the headband color. I choose gray.
Step two, choose the sidepieces. I selected gold.
Step three, choose the color for the speakers. I chose gold again.
Up next, choose the color for the ear cushions. I opted for white.
Finally pick your artwork. You can select from a variety of patterns or solid colors. I picked the black skull patten.
Once you’re satisfied with your selections simply add the headphones to your cart and check out. Your custom headphones will arrive at your day in a few days.
The headphones come wrapped in individual retail packaging. A nice tough as far as I’m concerned. Often times custom stuff doesn’t come in any sort of packing at all since the company has to handle each item individually. I appreciate that iFrogz packages all of their custom stuff just like the do their non-custom.
The headphones are light weight and very comfortable to wear on your head. The ear cushions are soft and large enough to block out some of the noise from your environment.
The headband is adjustable to allow for the size of the wearer’s head.
The 3.5mm headphone jack should work with most hand held audio players, gaming machines, microphones etc.
Priced at only $34.95 and fully customizable the Fallouts are an incredible bargain. Large enough to fully cover your ears which leads to a quality listening experience and custom built for under $40. You can’t beat that kind of deal. These headphones are comfortable enough to wear during marathon music or gaming sessions, light weight and the look great too.
The sound quality of the Fallouts seems on par with what Apple includes with their iPods and iPhones. So if you’re looking for an affordable over the ear style headphone to replace your stock Apple ones these are the perfect choice.

M.S.R.P. – $34.95
What I like – custom built, light weight, large ear piece, comfortable.
What I don’t like – do not fold.
