The iPad’s big and glorious screen is touted as being great for gaming. I have personally found however that only a certain genre of game plays well on the device. For me it’s one which don’t require me to pick up the iPad which seem to work best. I just don’t feel comfortable picking up the device and playing an accelerometer based game.
That being said, I’ve been playing mostly puzzle games but I really enjoy sports titles as well so when I recently stumbled across Virtual Pool HD in the iTunes App Store I thought I’d give it a whirl. I know Pool as a sport is a bit of stretch but work with me here….
Priced at only $2.99 the game is one of the most affordable iPad games in the store, which is refreshing. I’ve been disenchanted with many of the price tags associated with the more popular iPad games. $12, $19, $15, these start to really add up fast.
Just because it’s cheap doesn’t mean it plays that way either.
The graphics are sharp and crisp, gameplay is super smooth and it has enough challenges to keep you coming back over and over again.
Check out my video review below then hop on over to the iTunes App Store here and grab the game.
M.S.R.P. – $2.99
What I like – affordable, smooth gameplay, many options.
What I don’t like – can only be played in one direction of landscape.

Nice review. Tempting me towards an iPad…
In the two player mode, do you have to use the same iPad or can you play on two separate iPads (via bluetooth or some other wireless connection)?
I’m looking forward to seeing how Myst or Riven looks on this baby.
