This Sports Illustrated and HTC Contest Is Sure to Raise Eyebrows and Elicit Smiles

If you are an active social networker with accounts on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc, and if you have a following that would appreciate seeing your complete coverage of everything that goes on at the 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Photo Shoot, then you’ll want to pay attention to the following:

HTC and Sports Illustrated have teamed up to sponsor the Behind the Tan Lines contest, where one (very) lucky individual will have the opportunity to cover the 2011 SI Swimsuit Photo Shoot. The winner will get to share their own unique interpretation of what goes on behind the tan lines by stepping into the shoes of a journalist and sharing all of their experiences through an HTC phone that “gets” them. That’s right, not only does the winner get to travel to the photo shoot, they also get an HTC smartphone of their choice, as well as access to the 2011 Swimsuit launch parties in New York and Las Vegas, and $10, 000.

Actually, the more I think about this, the more I think Larry should enter. 😉

Here are the full details:

Sports Illustrated and HTC Launch “Behind the Tan Lines” Contest

HTC has partnered with SI to provide YOU the chance to showcase your unique interpretation of what goes on behind the tan lines. If you had a chance to wear the shoes of a journalist, what unexpected surprises would you share? What better way to share those experiences than through an HTC phone that gets YOU!

Sports Illustrated and HTC want to give a lucky someone the chance to experience the hallowed SI Swimsuit photo shoot in person. This is all about creativity – the winner will become an HTC correspondent who covers the photo shoot by utilizing the HTC smartphone’s amazing video, photographic and social networking capabilities to share the ultimate behind the scenes experience. The winner’s footage, photos and unexpected surprises will be featured to millions of SI Swimsuit fans at www.si.com/behindthetanlines.

The ideal winner will be great both in front of, and behind, the camera as well as offer a unique, firsthand perspective on the SI Swimsuit photo shoot.
To enter, visit www.si.com/behindthetanlines and upload a video or photo shot with your mobile phone, along with a brief description of the unique perspective you would bring to this experience. Then, “tweet” us a short message on why we should check out your creative perspective.

The grand prize includes a trip (for two) to the 2011 SI Swimsuit photo shoot, access to the 2011 Swimsuit launch parties in New York and Las Vegas, an HTC smartphone of your choice for you and your guest and a $10,000 cash prize. Four primary prize winners will receive an HTC smartphone of their choice and a $400 cash prize, while 25 secondary winners will receive an HTC smartphone of their choice and an exclusive HTC & SI Swimsuit-themed prize pack.

  1. What if the winner is visually impaired? 😉

That poor winner-to-be…it’d be like being sent to Le Bernardin in NY or some such to watch a grouping of the finest chefs in the world prepare sumptuous meals…and not being able to taste anything, just take pictures and twitter fatuously and furiously. “Hey Joe Don…sidle up to Sebastien Lepinoy and Facebook that black truffle and magret duck composition with the glass of Lafite…but don’t get too close!”

  3. Actually … perfect idea T-Will! 😉
