It’s safe to say we’ve hit a point with smartphones where what makes a phone stand out is created on the margins. In other words, all phones are big slabs of glass with nice big screens, so what makes them stand out is what else they bring, from battery life to amazing cameras. Honor Magic 3 series is taking that to a whole new level with a camera they’re calling IMAX-enhanced for filmmaking, unlike anything you’ve been able to do before on a smartphone!
Before we get to the camera, the rest of the Honor Magic 3 series is equally impressive. They’re sporting a super curved display with ultrathin bezels and an HDR10+ certification so that colors will be incredibly vivid. Honor Magic 3, Magic 3 Pro, and Magic 3 Pro+ will all be IP68 water and dust resistant, meaning you can use it safely even in that attic area you haven’t dusted in 20 years, as well as let it be submerged in water up to 1.5m for up to 30 minutes. Preferably not at the same time, but you do you.
On to the cameras! All the Honor Magic 3 series phones will have the HONOR Image Engine, an AI advanced imaging system for amazing photos every time. Honor Magic 3 Pro+ will have a quad-camera setup with a 64MP monochrome camera, a 50MP wide camera, a 64MP ultra-wide camera, and a 64MP periscope telephoto lens. No matter which Magic 3 you choose, all will have the IMAX-enhanced video feature, which uses Level 3D LUT (look up table), so your homemade YouTube videos will look movie-quality.
Honor has packed some serious cinematic and photographic punch into the Magic 3 series. Right now, they’re slated for release in China, with more regions coming soon. Magic 3 will start at 899 euros in Golden Hour and Blue Hour, Magic 3 Pro from 1099 euros in Golden Hour, Black, and White, and Magic 3 Pro+ starts at 1499 euros in Ceramic Black and Ceramic White. Keep your eyes peeled for these powerful and exciting new phones!
