The Lowdown

The Master & Dynamic MC100 Wireless Charge Pad is a beautifully engineered, low-profile charger that complements the MW08 Sport True Wireless Earphones. It isn’t the fastest or the fanciest Qi wireless charger on the market, but it gets the job done and looks quite superb in the process.

Overall
4.5

Pros

  • Low profile
  • Refined appearance
  • Machined Aluminum underside that keeps the charging pad cool
  • Includes a 1-meter long USB-C cable
  • Can deliver 10W charging with the right AC wall adapter and a device that accepts fast charging
  • Subtle LED charging indicator won’t keep you up at night

Cons

  • Does not include an AC wall adapter

A few weeks ago, I reviewed the Master & Dynamic MW08 Sport True Wireless Earphones; they are fantastic. As a bonus, the MW08 Sport battery case is Q1 wireless charging-enabled. It only made sense then that the company also released a wireless charging pad, and they have. The Master & Dynamic MC100 Wireless Charge Pad is elegant, well-built, and perfect for charging your M&D MW08 Sport earphones.

The Master & Dynamic MC100 Wireless Charge Pad comes nicely packaged. Inside the box, you’ll find the MC100 and a 1-meter USB-C to USB-C charging cable.

Master & Dynamic does not include an AC wall adapter, so you must provide one yourself. That’s not a huge deal since, at this point, most of us have enough AC adapters lying around. If you don’t, plenty of companies offer high-quality AC adapters for a reasonable price.

The charging disk measures 100mm by 100 mm and is just 9.9mm thick. That means it has a low profile that won’t call attention to itself, and it also means the charger won’t become additional clutter on your desk.

The Master & Dynamic MC100 Wireless Charge Pad is available in your choice of Silver Aluminum with Grey Coated Canvas or Gunmetal Aluminum with Black Coated Canvas. My review sample is the version with Gunmetal Aluminum, and I think it looks fantastic.

On the front of the charger, which looks like a round drink coaster, there is an LED indicator. It illuminates when a device is charging without being overly bright. That’s important if you plan to use the Master & Dynamic MC100 Wireless Charge Pad next to your bed.

The underside of the MC100 is as elegant and refined as the “business” side; it is made from machined aluminum and has an intricate design that pays homage to the first headphones the company released. But the use of aluminum and the detailed carving isn’t just about aesthetics; the carved channels in the aluminum help the MC100 stay cool to maintain its charging efficiency by enhancing heat dissipation.

Four anti-skid rubber feet keep the Master & Dynamic MC100 Wireless Charge Pad from sliding around while protecting whatever surface you set it upon.

I really like the Master & Dynamic MC100 Wireless Charge Pad design, but I have to note that it isn’t the fastest or most efficient charger on the market if you are also planning to use it with your Qi-enabled smartphone. It supports standard charging at 5W, and it can supply faster 10W charging if you use a 10W AC adapter.

As you might expect, the charging coil is in the center of the MC100. That means you should be able to lay your MW08 Sport or phone on it, and as long as the device is placed in the pad’s center, it should immediately begin recharging. M&D claims the MC100 can charge the MW08 Sport to 50% in just 30 minutes; a full charge from empty will take up to 100 minutes.

Because the MW08 Sport earphones have wireless charging, I place them on the charging pad next to the bed so this has never been a concern for me. Master and Dynamic have always been spot on with their battery specifications, but I highly recommend just keeping them topped off.

The Master & Dynamic MC100 Wireless Charge Pad retails for $69; it is available directly from the manufacturer.
