We’ve reviewed quite a few massage guns at Gear Diary; most of them are priced in the $75 to $125 range, and all do an excellent job of unclenching sore muscles and improving recovery times. One company has taken the budget-friendly massage gun concept to a whole new level by selling theirs for under $30. But is it possible to make an effective massage gun and sell it at that price? We’ve been testing the Taotronics 10 Speed Massage Gun, and we have some good news!
Surprisingly, the answer is yes. The Taotronics 10 Speed Massage Gun offers significant value; it is as good if not better than some of the more expensive massagers we’ve reviewed! It was such a surprise, as our first inclination was to be understandably wary of any electronic device that’s 20% of the cost of the competition.
The first thing that impressed us is that the Taotronics 10 Speed Massage Gun comes with a carrying case and plenty of accessories. There are slots for each of the six massage heads, the charger, and the massage gun.
I always love when these devices come with a case since they usually include a fair number of small accessories that can be easily misplaced or create clutter.
The second thing that impressed us is that the build quality on the Taotronics 10 Speed Massage Gun is surprisingly decent. The gun has a good weight, the handle is grippy, and there are LED lights to indicate the remaining battery level. It’s also really easy to adjust the controls on the back to speed up or slow down the massage.
The third thing that impressed us is that the massage gun doesn’t get warm while in use or show any other indications that corners have been cut in the electronics aspect, which was one of my biggest concerns. I also appreciate the physical on/off switch, so you can be sure it’s not drawing power when not in use.
Of course, there are a few downsides, but I don’t consider them dealbreakers given the price. The downsides include that the carrying case has a very chemical odor, though it’s faded after the initial unboxing. I’m also not thrilled that the Taotronics 10 Speed Massage Gun uses a bulky DC power adapter instead of USB-C.
But again, these aren’t dealbreakers, especially for a significantly less expensive price than the competition!
Here’s my video review of the Taotronics 10 Speed Massage Gun.
Would I recommend this to someone relying on a massage gun for an injury or serious athletic endeavor? Maybe not, but that’s less about price and more about the idea that a specialized need requires a specialized device.
However, if you’re a weekend warrior who wants to work out the kinks in your quads from too many attempted 3-pointers in pickup basketball, the Taotronics 10 Speed Massage Gun is a great entry point in the world of massage guns.
The Taotronics 10 Speed Massage Gun does the same thing as more expensive devices, so if you’re looking to give one a shot and are concerned about splashing out serious cash for as little as $26.99, this is a great choice!
The Taotronics 10 Speed Massage Gun sells for $26.99 to $29.99, depending upon color; it is available directly from the manufacturer.
