The Lowdown

What surprised me the most was that the budget-priced AquaSonic Black Series Electric Toothbrush looks, feels, and functions like a far more expensive toothbrush. It works exactly as promised and, so far, I don’t have a single complaint.

Cons

My pricey electric toothbrush finally died a few weeks ago. I was about to order a new one when I was offered the chance to review the AquaSonic Black Series Electric Toothbrush. At under $60 and often on sale for under $40, it’s far less expensive than what I was about to get. I figured it was worth checking out.

What’s in the AquaSonic Black Series Electric Toothbrush’s Box?

I expected the AquaSonic Black Series Electric Toothbrush to look and feel cheaper than the product it was replacing, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that that was not the case. The main unit has just the right amount of heft and looks solid and well-constructed.

I was pleased to find that the toothbrush came with a nice array of accessories.

Accessories included with the AquaSonic Black Series Electric Toothbrush

Inside the simple packaging, you get the AquaSonic Black Series Electric Toothbrush, a wireless charging base, eight DuPont brush heads, a travel case, a warranty card, and a user manual.

Six toothbrush heads come with the AquaSonic Black Series Electric Toothbrush

Including eight different was a huge surprise to me, making this toothbrush an even better value than I initially thought.

Think about it this way; each brush head lasts between three and four months, so the toothbrush arrives ready to keep your teeth clean for up to two and a half years! When you look at what competitors charge for brush heads, you’ll quickly realize that this toothbrush is a bargain, assuming it works!

Using the AquaSonic Black Series Electric Toothbrush

Thankfully it not only works, but it also does an excellent job.

A lithium-ion battery inside the toothbrush is easily recessed by placing it on the included wireless charging base.

A single charge is enough to keep the Black Series running for up to 4 weeks, assuming you use it twice daily for two minutes per session. That means it is great for home use, but, as the inclusion of a travel case likely makes clear, it is also an excellent travel toothbrush.

The ADA-approved AquaSonic Black Series is a powerful electric toothbrush that delivers 40,000 vibrations per minute for fast, effective dental care. The company is serious about its commitment to clean mouths:

We put our money where your mouth is. Investing in superior oral care technologies has earned the Black Series the prestigious ADA seal of approval. It has shown efficacy in removing plaque and helping to prevent and reduce gingivitis. Black Series goes beyond just cleaning teeth – it provides complete oral care with unique modes that include one for whitening and polishing teeth and one for improving gum health.

The AquaSonic Black Series Electric Toothbrush offers four different modes.

You can simply use the toothbrush as a toothbrush, but since it has some fancier modes, I figured I would try them once. I quickly started including them into my routine since using the Whiten mode toward the end of brushing sessions can help dissolve surface stains left by my morning coffee.

Massage mode delivers “vibrating micro-bursts into gum tissue to improve circulation and tissue function.”

Rounding out features of the Black Series are smart vibration timers so you can track how long you are brushing and an IPX7 waterproof rating so you can feel safe using an electric toothbrush around water.

Should You Buy the AquaSonic Black Series Electric Toothbrush?

When my old electric toothbrush died, I used a manual toothbrush for a while; I was so pleased to get the Black Series. It is far, far better than manual brushing.

What surprised me the most was that the budget-priced AquaSonic Black Series Electric Toothbrush looks, feels, and functions like a far more expensive toothbrush. It works exactly as promised and, so far, I don’t have a single complaint.

The AquaSonic Black Series Electric Toothbrush sells for $59.95; it is available directly from the manufacturer.
