You can always count on two things from Lenovo: solid computers that will carry you through anything you need and concepts so interesting and outside the box they make regular computers look like children’s toys. Their offerings from MWC combine both, with new ThinkPads and a wildly exciting new ThinkBook Transparent Display Laptop concept!
Let’s start with the transparent computer concept. The Lenovo ThinkBook Transparent Display Laptop concept has a 17.5″ microLED display that’s both transparent and borderless. The keyboard area is also transparent and can switch between the keyboard and a drawing interface, making it a powerful creative tool.
On the software side, Lenovo is showcasing how it can leverage AI in all new ways. The transparent surface can be used to integrate real-life objects in the workflow, and the transparency will make it blend into any environment.
Lenovo is using micro-LED technology to bring visual quality that will work in any setting and boasts that the prototype offers up to 1,000 nits of brightness. This is all just proof of concept right now, but it will be super exciting to see what Lenovo learns from this for future iterations!
Meanwhile, Lenovo plans to release a slate of computers this year in the ThinkPad line. The Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 5, T14S Gen 5, T16 Gen 3, X12 Detachable Gen 2, and 14″ 2-in-1 Gen 4 will all be powered by Intel processors with new Microsoft Copilot keys.
They’re all designed around bringing new AI features to make your workflow more creative, efficient, and powerful no matter what you’re doing!
All the new ThinkPad devices are also part of Lenovo’s commitment to a circular economy, where the devices are made from recycled materials and packaged with recyclable materials and minimal waste.
In addition, the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 and T16 Gen 3 were designed specifically to be more repair-friendly. Lenovo worked with the iFixit team to create repair guides and identify ways to upgrade and repair to extend the life of the computers for longer.
IFixit gives these new computers a shockingly high 9.3 out of 10 in repairability, showing that Lenovo is really committing to all the ways their computers can be more sustainable.
Each of the new ThinkPads has its own features that add to the Lenovo experience. The Lenovo ThinkPad T14, T14s, and T16 will have a Communications Bar with a 5MP camera, noise-canceling microphones, and narrower bezels for more screen to body.
The ThinkPad T14i Gen 5 will hit this April starting at $1,199, the ThinkPad T14 AMD will begin at $949 in May, the ThinkPad T14S Gen 5 will release this April starting at $1,399, and the ThinkPad T16 Gen 3 comes out this April starting at $1,219.
Meanwhile, there’s the ThinkPad X12 Detachable Gen 2 for the convertible lovers. X12 has a 3:2 screen with Corning Gorilla Glass, Intel Ultra processors, and an integrated AI engine.
There’s a detachable backlit keyboard and a three-button TrackPad, plus an optional magnetic pen for whatever work you need to do on the go.
Look for the Lenovo ThinkPad X12 Detachable this April, starting at $1,399.
For those who want convertibility without a detachable keyboard, the Lenovo ThinkPad 14 2-in-1 comes in at a very svelte 3.61 pounds. It also has a shocking 90% screen-to-body ratio and a slim magnetic pen for creating on the go.
Lenovo also refreshed the keyboard with a 1.5mm travel and a new larger touchpad for more comfort. Expect it this March, starting at $1,169.
Finally, if you’re used to a dual monitor setup at home, it’s really hard to give that up on the go. You don’t have to with the Lenovo ThinkVision M14T mobile monitor.
It’s a 14″ monitor with an IPS panel for wide viewing angles, TÜV Rheinland certified Natural Low Blue Light and Eyesafe technology, and a touchscreen. It offers dual USB-C for charging and connecting and can charge via pass-through, so your table at Starbucks isn’t a mass of cables!
Look for it in July, starting at $399.
