You can’t talk about anything tech these days without AI coming into the conversation. But as cool as AI is, it needs a lot of power to come to fruition. Qualcomm is working to take its expertise in processors and ensure your device’s AI is up for anything you throw at it!
Qualcomm is making it easier for lots of different devices, like computers, phones, cars, and smart gadgets, to use artificial intelligence (AI) right on the device itself. This means your devices can be smarter without needing to rely on the internet all the time.
To make this possible, Qualcomm has a few AI tricks up its sleeve.
The new Qualcomm AI Hub is like a treasure trove of ready-to-use AI models specially designed for devices that run on Snapdragon and Qualcomm platforms. Inside this hub, developers can find over 75 AI models, including popular ones like Whisper, ControlNet, Stable Diffusion, and Baichuan 7B.
These models are supercharged to perform really well right on the device, using less memory and power more efficiently, no matter the size or type of device. They’re optimized to work faster by taking advantage of the different parts inside the Qualcomm AI Engine, like the NPU, CPU, and GPU. This means they can make decisions up to four times quicker!
The AI model library even takes care of the technical stuff for developers. It translates the models so they can work smoothly on different systems and applies smart optimizations to make them run even better.
Developers can easily add these models to their apps, helping them hit the market faster and offering users faster responses, reliability, privacy, personalization, and even cost savings.
The idea here is that developers can easily add various AI features and tricks to their software and have easy compatibility with devices running on Qualcomm devices. It’s a way to bring the features with fewer steps and a lot less stress!
You can find the optimized models right now on the Qualcomm AI Hub, GitHub, and Hugging Face. And guess what? More models will keep getting added to the Qualcomm AI Hub, and they’ll work on more platforms and systems, too!
If you’re a developer, you can sign up today to use these models on cloud-hosted devices that run on Qualcomm Technologies’ platforms. Plus, you’ll get early access to new features and AI models that come out through the Qualcomm AI Hub.
In addition to putting together a library of AI, Qualcomm also has some new hardware to better power all that new software with the Snapdragon X80 5G Modem-RF System.
The Snapdragon X80 5G Modem-RF System has 5G capabilities but also connects to NB-NTN satellites, which in English means it will be able to connect more areas in the future as satellites get leveraged to expand 5G coverage to more areas. X80 will also have a dedicated accelerator for AI optimization to make it faster and more power-efficient.
Finally, Qualcomm is bringing it all together with Qualcomm FastConnect 7900. It’s the first mobile connectivity system to integrate AI-optimized performance with WiFi 7, Bluetooth, and Ultra Wideband tech all on one chip.
FastConnect leverages AI to adapt power consumption, and the various connectivity options offer ways to securely connect to anything the end user needs.
Qualcomm is very excited about the future of AI — and we should be, too — and they’re working hard to ensure everything they do behind the scenes brings plenty of power.
Generative AI is coming to phones and devices we carry everywhere, and Qualcomm is right in the thick of it, ensuring it’s the best possible experience for everyone!
