Cons

3 Legged Thing of Stagsden, Bedfordshire, England, manufactures tripods and related gear. 3 Legged Thing’s product line is full of personality, colorful anodized components, and modular design. In this review, we look at an all-new product, the 3 Legged Thing Pivot 250 Magic Arm.

3 Legged Thing Pivot 250 Magic Arm

Pivot Arms are a clever attachment to tripods, brackets, and mounting plates, really anything with a standard ¼”-20 thread that can be used to mount monitors, lights, microphones, and action cameras.

3 Legged Thing Pivot 250 Magic Arm

The Pivot 250’s two arms are fully adjustable, with a ¼”-20 thread at either end. Each side has an omnidirectional ball socket.

Where the arms join, there is a wing knob that, when loosened, allows the arms to move freely. When the knob is tightened, the arms and ball sockets all lock in place.

The 3 Legged Thing Pivot 250 Magic Arm can support up to 6.6 pounds (3kg), which should easily suffice for most standard lights, microphones, and monitors.

The arms are constructed of aerospace-grade magnesium alloy with stainless steel fixings. The rotational locks have knurling for maximum grip, even when wearing gloves. They are available in two color combinations: Lava (black with orange accents) and Darkness (matte black).

The 3 Legged Thing Pivot 250 Magic Arm is available in two lengths: 150mm (5.9″) and 250mm (9.84″).
