Dbrand Aperture for Apple Vision Pro: The Accessory You Didn’t Know You Needed (Because You Probably Don’t Own a Vision Pro)

Apple’s Vision Pro has been out for a minute now, and while it’s undoubtedly an impressive piece of hardware, I think we can agree that it also firmly cements its wearers in the “I have more money than sense” club. At $3,500, you’d think Apple would throw in a carrying case that doesn’t look like a discount lunchbox, but here we are. Enter the dbrand Aperture—a faceplate so unapologetically odd-looking that it somehow makes perfect sense.

The dbrand Aperture is a protective cover for the Vision Pro, featuring a cutout design that, depending on your level of trypophobia, will either fascinate or deeply unsettle you. More importantly, it allows the Vision Pro’s many, many cameras and sensors to remain fully functional while keeping the headset safe from whatever dangers your desk, bag, or questionable life choices might present.

For those willing to go all-in, there’s the Aperture + Battery Holster bundle. If you’ve ever wondered where to put the Vision Pro’s external battery without looking like you’re carrying around a medical device, the holster’s got you covered—literally. It comes with a built-in clip, so your battery stays put instead of awkwardly tugging at your pocket like a needy child.

But Why Does This Exist?

Good question. This fever dream of a product started as a 3D-printed concept by Kyle Goodrich, a former augmented reality designer at Snap. Dbrand evidently took one look at it and thought, “Yeah, let’s make that a thing.” So they did.

Designed in California, manufactured by robots, and now available for anyone willing to spend $49 for Aperture alone or $69 for the bundle, it even comes with a fancy box for when you inevitably remove it to sell with your Vision Pro.

Limited Run, Because of Course It Is

Let’s be honest—Vision Pro owners aren’t exactly a massive market. Unless Tim Cook pulls off some miracle and suddenly convinces ten times as many people to strap a screen to their faces, dbrand isn’t planning on making another batch. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.

Oh, and if you think you might want the battery holster at some point, you should probably just get the bundle now. It’s not being sold separately, and you don’t want to be the person begging for one on eBay six months from now.

So, if you’re one of the rare (and lucky? unfortunate?) few who own a Vision Pro and want to protect it without turning it into a glorified paperweight, The dbrand Aperture is up for grabs now in Black or Orange. Get it while you can. Or don’t. We’re not your mom.

  1. It looks a bit ridiculous, but it’s probably necessary protection for such an expensive device.

I’m a big fan of dbrand – I’ve been using their iPhone 14 Pro case for over 2 years… but this Aperture is a bit much. I get that the Vision Pro is expensive and needs protection, but this design just doesn’t feel like their usual sleek style. It’s functional, but I’m not sure I’m sold on the look.

  3. Well, it has a steep price, and although limited, it will appeal to only a small segment of the marketplace. I do like the color combination 🙂

  4. Well, it doesn’t cost that much if you consider the price of the Vision Pro you’re using this to protect.
