At Gear Diary, we review quite a few e-bikes from various manufacturers, but we have yet to test any Jasion models. The company was founded in 2020 and now offers a line of folding, fat-tire, and cruiser bikes. In this review, we examine the Jasion RetroVolt Pro, an upgrade from the previous model in many ways.
Design
One of the first things that you notice about the RetroVolt Pro is the attitude of its design. Jasion refers to this style as a “Moped EBike”, but I consider this a misnomer. In my youth, I had a Motobécane 50v Mobylette, which featured a step-through design similar to other mopeds of the time and of many e-bikes of today. The RetroVolt Pro looks much more like a lightweight motorcycle.
In a quick tour of the Jasion RetroVolt Pro, starting with the left handlebar, you get a grouped set of buttons and switches for the lights, turn signals, and horn. Directly adjacent is a cluster of buttons. In the center of the cluster is the bike’s power toggle surrounded by controls for navigating the display screen, including function select, up and down, cruise, and a toggle for the light.
Centered on the handlebars is the color display screen with a wealth of information including speed (switchable between mph and kph), battery level, headlight status, fault warning, PAS level, turn signals (a great addition as it is often hard to detect whether your turn signals are on or off otherwise), riding status and the trip odometer which can also display max and average speeds.
This color display is sharp, bright, and informative. The high-gloss finish is reflective, as on all similar displays, and can be a bit hard to read in direct sunlight and when wearing polarized sunglasses.
The Jasion RetroVolt Pro features an upgraded, larger headlight with a brush guard, which puts out 600 lumens. On the back end, the bike has a rear/brake light with integrated turn signals, located directly below the rear rack component that extends from the saddle. This element can be used as a passenger seat or fitted with the optional Anti-Slip rear Seat ($89).
The sides of the rear rack feature a slotted system that allows users to attach objects such as water bottles and locks. Unfortunately, Jasion does not sell the clips that work with this pegboard design.
The RetroVolt Pro has hydraulic front and Horst-Link rear suspension that provides a smooth and comfortable ride on whatever surface you encounter. Hydraulic brakes in the front and rear deliver the stopping power required for the 330 max payload.
The motor has a 2000W peak power rating and 99 N·m of torque, delivering adequate power to conquer hills and rough terrain. The upgraded removable lithium-ion battery features 1040Wh and 52V 20Ah. A very nice update that gives the bike a 90-mile range on a single charge.
Build Quality
Every detail of the Jasion RetroVolt Pro seems well thought out. The materials used are robust and appear built to last. The components themselves, such as the color display, gear shifter, rear derailleur, headlight, etc., are chosen for their balance of quality, performance, and price. In other words, Jasion has spent its budget wisely; the overall effect is one of quality, performance, and durability.
Assembly
The Jasion RetroVolt Pro arrives in a box that weighs over 100 pounds, and moving it around is the hardest part of the assembly process. The box is well packed, and the RetroVolt Pro arrived in perfect condition.
The bike arrives mostly assembled, leaving the users to attach the handlebars, front wheel, headlamp, and pedals. All required tools are included, as are the keys, charge, and manual card with a QR code for downloading instructions and manuals.
Assembly requires no prior experience and can be completed in 20 minutes.

Riding Impressions
The Jasion RetroVolt Pro is a fun ride. It is quick and easily reaches its formidable top speed on level roads. Going down hills, the bike is even quicker. Going up hills, the 99 N·m of torque is adequate but not stellar. I live on a fairly steep hill, and all ebikes that I have tested leave me wanting to provide pedal assist, as they only reach speeds in the teens. The RetroVolt Pro is definitely one of the top performers in this test, but more torque is always welcome.
The ride is very comfortable, and I felt totally in control at all speeds and on all surfaces. The dual suspension and fat tires easily soak up bumps and provide excellent contact on gravel and dirt.
Jasion has an app that allows users to track and save their rides, amongst other features, but unfortunately, the app does not support the RetroVolt Pro, and there are no plans to add compatibility in the future.
