Nomad is running a limited 72-hour promotion that gives shoppers a free Tracking Card Air with eligible purchases, which is a tidy way to put one of the brand’s more practical accessories in front of people who were already planning to buy something. From now through 9 a.m. PST on April 17, anyone placing a global order of $80 or more can add Nomad’s $29 wallet tracker to the cart and use code FREEGIFT to get it at no extra cost. The catch is simple enough: this deal only applies to the iOS version.
The Tracking Card Air is Nomad’s slim wallet tracker built to work with Apple’s Find My app. The idea is straightforward. Instead of attaching a fob or keychain tracker to something bulky, this one slips into a wallet and behaves more like an extra card than a gadget trying too hard to be noticed.
At approximately 3.39″ long by 2.13″ wide by 0.07″ thick and ~0.42 ounces, it’s roughly the size of a credit card and about as thick as two stacked together. That’s thin enough for most wallets, though anyone already carrying a wallet packed like a suitcase might still notice the extra layer. Nomad says it works in any wallet, and that should be mostly true in real life, but “most” is probably the safer expectation.
The practical appeal here is easy to understand. If your wallet tends to disappear between couch cushions, under a car seat, or into that one bag pocket you swear you’ve already checked three times, the Tracking Card Air lets you locate it through Apple’s Find My network. It can also play a sound alert when you’re nearby, though that only works within about 150′. That’s helpful for local hide-and-seek, but it won’t magically chirp across town.
It charges wirelessly on any Qi or MagSafe charger, including upright MagSafe stands, and Nomad says a full charge lasts up to five months. That’s a meaningful detail because it removes the usual nuisance of button-cell batteries. Recharge it, drop it back in your wallet, and move on with your life.
There are a few fine-print realities worth knowing before anyone gets too attached to the idea. The card doesn’t support Precision Finding, Apple’s more precise directional-tracking feature. That’s not Nomad being stingy with features. Apple still doesn’t allow third-party Find My accessories to use Ultra Wideband, or UWB, the short-range wireless tech that enables that arrow-on-screen guidance with AirTags. So this is more “it’s in the house” than “it’s under the left cushion.”
Nomad also notes that the Tracking Card Air won’t demagnetize credit cards, since it doesn’t contain magnets. It only includes enough metal to align with MagSafe chargers and receive power. That’s reassuring, because no one wants a tracker that solves one problem by creating a trip to the bank.
The bigger compatibility warning involves RFID-blocking wallets. Many of those use substantial metal layers, which can interfere with Bluetooth, the wireless connection this tracker relies on. If you carry an RFID-blocking wallet, this probably isn’t the cleanest fit. The card is also rated IPX7 for water resistance and dust protection, which should help if your wallet encounters the occasional rainstorm, a spilled drink, or a gym bag that’s dramatically overfilled.
Looks like an awesome deal!
