Everybody sleeps. Duh. And yet, everybody is unique in how well—or how badly—they sleep. I tend to sleep rather well (and heavily), but occasionally I have bouts of sleeplessness. When that happens, I resort to background noise on my clock radio, a floor fan blowing in my face, or even music via my trusty Apple AirPods Pro earbuds. The point is that everyone has tried-and-true tricks that work for them, with varying degrees of success. Enter the Fitnexa SomniPods 3 earbuds. These light, tiny wonders can help those with sleep issues, but they are not perfect.
The Fitnexa SomniPods 3 earbuds are designed to aid sleep by providing noise-canceling and soothing nature sounds/music via Bluetooth. They will also track health patterns, such as breathing, heart rate variability, and other metrics. The small, flat design provides all-night comfort.

Design and Features
Let’s go over some of the features and limitations of the Fitnexa SomniPods 3 earbuds. These earbuds are fully functional Bluetooth (5.4) earbuds with a thin, sleek design that comfortably rests flat in your ear without causing discomfort or digging into your ear canal, unlike most earbuds.
This exceptional comfort makes Fitnexa SomniPods 3 earbuds the ultimate choice for sleeping. They are so comfortable that I’ve sometimes forgotten I was wearing them even during the day.

Included are a wide range of sizing and comfort options; the Fitnexa SomniPods 3 come with ten different-sized eartips along with what Fitnexa calls “Wings”, four differently-sized silicone ear fins designed to enhance comfort for side-sleeping. While numerous sizes are available, it’s crucial to select the appropriate eartip and wing sizes.
One night, I swapped one of the eartips for a larger size and regretted it the next day, waking up with slightly sore ear canals. However, reverting to my original choice resolved the issue. It’s worth noting that Fitnexa recommends a few days of trial and error to find the perfect fit.

Here’s where the SomniPods 3 earbuds fall short: While you can use them as regular Bluetooth earbuds during the day, don’t expect audiophile-quality sound. Fitnexa claims they reproduce hi-res audio, but they can’t compete with other earbuds. The clarity is good, but the bass is weak. Listening to familiar music, the sound quality was not on par with either AirPods Pro or other similarly priced earbuds like Soundcore Liberty or Status Pro. However, if you’re a fan of podcasts, audiobooks, or other spoken media, the SomniPods 3’s weak bass improves vocal clarity.
Despite my slight disappointment with the audio quality, the SomniPods 3 earbuds are Hi-Res Audio-certified and support LDAC and aptX Adaptive/Snapdragon Sound, with a 10-band EQ available in the app. Aside from the useful equalizer, LDAC and aptX codecs mean little to iPhone users since Apple doesn’t support them. Moreover, advancements in Bluetooth technology have significantly diminished the significance of these codecs.

As mentioned earlier, the primary objective of the SomniPods 3 earbuds is comfort, not audio. It’s reassuring to know that I can sleep on either side without feeling earbuds digging into my ears.

The SomniPods 3 earbuds provide sleep solutions tailored to different techniques for falling asleep. One significant advantage is the Fitnexa app (available on iOS and Android). Music can be played via Bluetooth, and the app also includes background nature sounds to help induce sleep. Furthermore, the app monitors sleep, heart rate, and sleep depth, providing a “grade” of your sleep quality. (Last night, I had a “good” night—not exceptional.)
According to the app, one night, I slept on my left side 49% of the time and on my right side 51%, with no back or stomach sleeping. The app also maintains a record of sleep patterns over time. However, it’s worth noting that data may take some time to appear in the app after waking up.

While the Fitnexa app tracks sleep patterns over time, I prefer not to use its tracking functions. I’m not interested in the sleep/heart rate/breathing features because I’m not convinced of their accuracy. I wear a Withings watch 24/7, which tracks sleep metrics via built-in sensors (similar to the Apple Watch). When comparing apps and the results, there was little in common. Read into that what you will.
However, if you do not have other health tracking methods, I recommend taking advantage of what Fitnexa offers. It can possibly give advance warning or trends to watch out for.
