Anker SOLIX S2000 Review: Keep Your Fridge Running When the Grid Throws in the Towel

The Lowdown

The Anker SOLIX S2000 doesn’t try to be an all-in-one heavy industrial generator or a ruggedized camping pack for high-draw power tools. Instead, it serves as the ultimate indoor insurance policy. It is smaller and lighter than similar portable batteries and built to last. The outputs are thoughtfully placed on both the front and back, creating options to keep your cords from getting tangled. The OptiSave technology ensures long-lasting performance, setting the S2000 apart from similar products. This is a great option for keeping your refrigerator running alongside other appliances.

Picture this: a severe summer storm rolls into town, the lightning flashes, and the grid goes down. Your mind immediately races through the checklist of modern tragedies: No Wi-Fi. No AC. And, worst of all, a refrigerator packed with premium brisket, craft beer, and dairy products slowly warming up to room temperature. Instead of scrambling for ice bags, you could just sit back, relax, and let a microwave-sized box save your summer. Enter the Anker SOLIX S2000 Portable Power Station, a clever, “fridge-first” battery backup designed explicitly to keep your kitchen running when the utility company throws in the towel.

Measuring just 8.2 × 11.1 × 12.7 inches and tipping the scales at 35.7 pounds, the Anker SOLIX S2000 is roughly 25% lighter and 30% smaller than standard units in its weight class. The build quality is clean and durable, featuring integrated, comfortable handles that make it easy to haul from the garage to the kitchen island without breaking a sweat.

Anker loaded the SOLIX S2000 with OptiSave technology, dropping the active idle power to a tiny 6W (most competitors consume between 14W and 26W just standing around). Because refrigerators don’t run constantly, this ultra-low idle draw means the S2000 wastes almost no energy when the fridge compressor clicks off. Combined with a 90% discharge efficiency at standard household loads, it delivers up to 35 hours of continuous runtime for a large 700-liter refrigerator.

To help avoid cable clutter, the outputs are split between the front and back of the device. The back includes two AC plugs perfect for keeping appliance cords cleanly run. The front adds three more AC plugs along with a 100W USB-C, a 15W USB-C, and a 12W USB-A. The provided AC charging cable plugs into the rear, and a solar charging port is located on the front. The S2000 will work with the Anker mobile app.

If you leave the Anker SOLIX S2000 plugged into the wall and pass your fridge or desktop computer through it, it acts as a silent guardian. The moment the grid drops, it switches over to battery power in under 10 milliseconds. Your computer won’t even reboot, and your ice cream won’t even think about melting.

When the power returns (or if you’re topping it up before a storm), engaging “UltraFast Mode” via the companion smartphone app blasts the battery back up to 80% capacity in just 1.2 hours from a standard wall outlet.

  1. Handy for home and weekends outdoors to keep things running, like the smaller size, would like to see some comparisons with other options, but generally Anker products are solid performers.
