Parents today… as if it wasn’t bad enough that my sister was letting my niece and nephew get iPod touches next week for their 9th birthdays (yes, I got a few emails telling me that 9 is too young) Patrick Jordan from Just Another iPhone Blog and Just Another iPad Blog is leading his 7-year-old daughter down the path toward iDelinquency. As he explains it in his post  My 7 Year Old Jailbreaker’s Demand: I Want Folders!

My 7 year old daughter has been asking me for months when we could jailbreak her iPod Touch.  I did not want to go down the tethered jailbreak road, so until this week my answer had held firm at ’soon hopefully’.

Of course earlier this week the new Spirit jailbreak was released – and it provides an untethered jailbreak for all iPhones, Touches, and even the iPad.  I mentioned that to my daughter and she was excited and wanted her Touch jailbroken ASAP.

That’s how Patrick said it went. You can read the whole sordid tale over on his site but it just isn’t true. You see, I’ve known Patrick  for a few years now and I have some pretty good insight into how this actually played out. Here’s the real version, and it’s the one he’ll never cop to…

Patrick- “Honey I can finally jailbreak your iPod for you…”

Daughter- (crying) “But I don’t want to jailbreak my iPod. I like it the way it is.”

Patrick- “No seriousl you want to jailbreak. I’m your father, trust me.”

Daughter, “NOOOO!!!! I don’t want to be an outlaw. Please daddy, leave it alone.”

Patrick- “There. Done. Now you are jailbroken.”

Daughter, “Waaaahhhhh!!!!!”

Patrick- “And if your mother asks, YOU insisted.”
