The seemingly everlasting style conundrum – fashion vs. function, might finally have a solution. According to Hex, makers of those stylish iPod Nano watchbands, you can have your cake and eat it too. Having recently released a brand-new Fall/ Winter bag collection, the Oxnard, California-based trend-setters are banking on the dual appeal of fashion and function. Currently available for pre-order, the tech-friendly bags feature a versatile combination of pockets, padded pouches, compartment separations, organizers and adjustable straps. If you’ve been hunting for a more fashionable way to carry your laptop or iPad, this seems like a pretty straightforward solution.
Hex, is planning on releasing two similar collections, succinctly labeled Recon and Varsity. Both include eight unique bags and are designed for the safe, secure, and of course, stylish carrying of a laptop, with additional room for other devices- including smart-phones and the occasional iPad. Whereas the Recon line features an industrial grade washed canvas-type fabric, Varsity delivers a sharper, cleaner, and more refined look and feel. Consumers looking for a weathered look and more durable construction might favor Recon, yet the sleek elegance and grey wool of the Varsity line will surely impress.
All designs include leather pulls, bar-tacking at seams and joints for durability, the seemingly unavoidable logo labeling, as well as heavy-duty cotton surplus webbing straps for comfortable carrying. The Recon line is available in both Charcoal and Khaki, while the Varsity line is available in only the former, shown above.
Hex‘s more expensive messenger bags (above), seem to be the most innovative– featuring a front iPad pocket that doubles as a case, allowing users full access to the device. Additionally, the standard-issue messenger flap acts as a protective cover, effectively outfitting your iPad for cushioned, mobile use. It’ll run you a flat $79.95.
The entire collection, which is expected to begin shipping sometime in late-August, is available for pre-order at the Hex website.
