I’m a big fan of Slacker radio and love the fact that they are continually adding features and stations. Last night I got one of my favorite emails from them. It began with “This is the first of our announcements this week.” That is music to my ears although this announcement has nothing to do with music.

No, this announcement is about the fact that, later tonight Slacker Radio will begin offering live streaming of major professional and collegiate sports events from ESPN.

The new feature starts tonight and the inaugural live broadcast will be of the BCS Championship game — No. 1 LSU versus No. 2 Alabama. Best of all, it will be available to all Slacker listeners via the web player at www.Slacker.com. In the future, live programming will be available to Slacker Radio Plus and Slacker Premium Radio subscribers but the interactive ESPN Radio station on Slacker will remain free and available to all listeners. You can check out Slacker here on the web.

About the Author

Dan Cohen
Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. Dan is married to Raina Goldberg who is also an avid user of Apple products. They live in New Jersey with their golden doodle Nava.
