Muse was announced as providing the ‘Official Olympic Anthem’ for the summer games in London, and today they have released the song video officially, with the full album coming in September.
The song is called ‘Survival’ and Muse singer Matthew Bellamy said:
“It’s a huge honor to have the track chosen as such a major part of the London 2012 Olympic Games,” Bellamy added. “I wrote it with the games in mind as it expresses a sense of conviction and determination to win.”
And here is the entire song:
What do you think?
Personally … I have no use for the song. The harmonic structure is completely derivative, particularly of Queen; it lacks a convincing hook; the lyrics … ugh; and overall it is about the least impressive Olympic song I can think of offhand. But I’m sure it will generate plenty of revenue on iTunes for the band.

Horrible…
My kids didn’t make it all the way through … and since my younger son owns the entire Muse library it is not a good sign for their upcoming album …
I LOVE Muse (since Judie turned me on to them). I HATE this.
And thanks Mike, I would have listened and wondered why the beginning sounded so familiar but would not have pegged it as Queen.
In technical music jargon… YUCK
I have everything they have ever done … and of this? i am not a fan. =/
