GetHuman.com has always been a favorite website of mine for getting in touch with organizations with annoying telephone menu systems or extremely long hold times. Earlier today, I was trying to contact United Airlines regarding my upcoming honeymoon to Hawaii and was told that I would have to wait 45 minutes for the next available agent. After hanging up the phone in frustration, I decided to check out Get Human and see if there was an alternate number I could call. Unfortunately, there were no alternate numbers to reach an operator faster, however, I noticed for the first time a nifty feature which essentially waits on hold for you and calls you back when an agent is available. I figured “Why Not?” and decided to give it a try. Let me tell you, if you’re facing complicated phone menus or long hold times, this will be a revelation. I used the service flawlessly three times today.
First, you log on to Get Human’s Call-Back section of their site at http://gethuman.com/call-back/. Next, search for the company you’d like to speak with; Get Human has a directory of 218 companies that the Call-Back feature works with. Next, click on the company you’d like to call you back and on the next page, you click the orange “Start Call-Back” button. A small widget will pop up asking you to input the phone number on which you’d like to be reached, then you click the blue “Request Callback” button. Finally, you’ll see the widget go through the paces of placing the call, navigating the menu, and then waiting on hold. Then, all you have to do is wait for your phone to ring.
It’s easy as pie and it beats listening to terrible hold music for 45 minutes. Try it and you might be surprised at how well it works! Oh, and did I mention that it is completely FREE? Yeah, give it a shot.
