Sony has continued to struggle in many ways, yet at the same time keeps producing some amazing gear – and at MWC the trend continues. Today at MWC Sony launches new Xperia devices including the Xperia Z2, the Tablet Z2 and the mid-range M2. Each of these bring competitive prices, high-end features, slick designs and the legendary Sony build quality.
The Xperia Z2 and the Xperia Tablet Z2 are light and attractive, with designs that focus on the overall user experience – from eye-catching appearance, to lightweight materials, to omni-balance technology that makes them more comfortable to hold for longer gaming or viewing sessions.
The Xperia M2 keeps the high-end look and feel of the Z2, but is a mid-range competitive device with a low unlocked price expected at launch.
Sony is including 6 movies with the X2 line and 3 movies with the M2, as well as 30 days free of the Sony Music Unlimited service. There are no special hooks from the Xperia devices into the recently launched Playstation 4 at this point.
According to Judie’s hands-on Twitter note, “The Sony Z2 feels excellent in hand. The screen is amazing!”

I own both the Sony Xperia Z Ultra LTE Sony version as well as the Google Play Edition. They are incredibly well made and I will echo Judy’s comment that they feel amazing in-hand. THIS is what Samsung ought to be doing with respect to smartphone design. The Google Play Edition phone is my daily driver and although it has some irritations (it has trouble writing to my 64 GB microSD card where the Sony version does not), I am really liking the stock KitKat experience.
More people need to be aware of these phones, they are simply amazing. I am eagerly awaiting the release of the Z2!
