With the release of any new smartphone comes a wave of new smartphone cases, and Moshi is leading the pack with their stylish and protective cases for the iPhone XS and XS Max. Moshi released a variety of cases and accessories for the latest iPhone, including portfolio-style cases, slim, light cases, screen protectors, and even wireless charging docks.
Founded in San Francisco in 2005, Moshi is an international design house that designs premium accessories for high-end electronics. They take pride in their work, coming from a background of material sciences and engineering. Moshi now has offices all over the world, from San Francisco, to Shanghai, to Rotterdam.
Our friends at Moshi were kind enough to send over a smattering of iPhone XS Max accessories for us to check out and share with our readers.
First up, is the Altra case. It’s a slim case with a detachable wrist strap for our always on the go lifestyle. The Altra is a handsome case that features a textured pattern on the back of the case that adds style and improves grip. The Altra uses soft-touch button covers on the sides of the case as well.
The Altra comes in four colors: Shadow Black, Blossom Pink, Mint Green, and Savanna Beige. I’m a huge fan of this case as it’s thin and light but also provides military grade drop protection up to four feet. The juxtaposition between the rubberized pattern and the fabric really adds some style to your phone. The Altra retails for $44.95.
Next is the Vitros case. It’s another slim case, but this time it’s completely clear to allow your phone’s design to shine through. You can chose to have clear, black, silver, or gold sides to the case. The case itself is scratch resistant and also provides drop protection up to 4 feet. It’s a great option for those who want minimal cases and who want to show off their fancy new smartphone in the process.
I’ve been using the Vitros ever since I received it and it suits me just perfectly because it’s slim, light, and attractive. You can get yours for $29.95.
Next up from Moshi is the Stealthcover case. The Stealthcover case is a portfolio-style case that has a see-through cover to provide protection on both the front and back of your phone. The cover is held on with a magnetic clasp for ease of use. The sides of the case are soft, which feel good in the hand. The Stealthcover also offers military grade drop protection.
While this isn’t my style of case, I can see why it would make a great case for those looking for protection on both the front and rear of their phones. The magnetic clasp ensures the cover stays on until you want to take it off. The Stealthcover retails for $44.95.
The last iPhone case we have to review is the Overture case. It’s another portfolio-style case, however, this one is a wallet-style case. It has a large pocket and card pocket on the inside of the front cover that allows you to take cash and ID/credit cards with you. The fabric is soft and textured, adding to the premium feel of this case. The Overture case also doubles as a kickstand when you fold the cover back.
The Overture is available in Charcoal Black, Savanna Beige, and Herringbone Grey. I’m a fan of this case, though I’m not a huge portfolio case guy. While this style of case adds weight to your phone, I can see how it would be handy to carry everything in one case. The Overture retails for $49.95.
Moshi also has glass screen protectors available for the iPhone XS and XS Max, including the IonGlass. The IonGlass is an ultra-durable screen protector made with atomically-strengthened glass, which is apparently stronger than tempered glass. The IonGlass is also precision-molded to fit the iPhone XS curved touchscreen and is about 40% thinner than genereic screen protectors. It has an oleophobic coating, allowing you to easily wipe away fingerprints.
The IonGlass fit my iPhone XS Max perfectly, however, I did end up with some bubbles under the screen protector. I’m sure they’ll go away eventually, but this also happens with many screen protectors. The IonGlass retails for $39.95 from Moshi.
Saving the best for last, we have the Otto Q wireless charging pad. While not specifically designed for the iPhone XS or XS Max, the Otto Q is a Qi-certified wireless charger capable of fast-charging devices up to 10W using a special fast-charging cable (not included.) The Otto Q can charge devices using up to a 5mm thick case, which means that all of the above cases are wireless charging compatible. The Otto Q has foreign object detection for safety and has a non-slip silicone surface ring and base. It includes a 3-foot USB-C to USB-A cable.
The Otto Q is a super-attractive charging pad, it looks like an ottoman, and that’s exactly what Moshi was going for when designing it. When I’m charging my iPhone XS Max on it, it does look like furniture for my phone. The Smart LED is also a nice touch, which shows a “breathing” pattern when your phone is charging.
Check out all of Moshi’s new products on their website. We’re big fans of their product design, so be sure to include them in your research for new phone cases.
