Lenovo is synonymous with quality computers. They make devices for every budget and use case, and they’re consistently raising the bar for themselves. This year’s crop of new computers brings further innovation and power to Lenovo’s family of PCs, so brace your wallets and get excited!
Lenovo Yoga Series
The Yoga line of computers offers the best of both the laptop and tablet worlds, with flexibility, touchscreens, stylus support, and more.
This year, there are exciting new developments with the Yoga 9i, Yoga 7i, and Yoga 6! All the Lenovo Yoga devices sport Windows 11, Alexa integration, and Lenovo’s new Yoga Co2 offset service, allowing consumers to offset their carbon footprint from their technology purchases.
The Lenovo Yoga 9i
The Lenovo Yoga 9i is the crown jewel of the Yoga 2022 line, sporting a 14″ screen, a 12th Gen Intel i7 processor, and Intel Iris X graphics. It qualifies as an Intel Evo laptop, meaning it has instant-wake, long battery life, fast charging, and generally fast responsiveness.
It also sports a Rotating Sound Bar with quad Bowers and Wilkins speakers, so you’ll get clear, crisp sound no matter what angle you have the computer. Movies, spreadsheets, and Facebook will all look great with a 4K OLED touchscreen with Dolby Vision and TÜV Low Blue Light certification for less eye strain.
Lenovo also made sure the Yoga 9i could easily be opened one-handed, expanded the touchpad’s size, and brought the keyboard almost edge-to-edge. They also created five new function keys that let users easily toggle between longer battery life and extra power for performance.
You can toggle on/off blurring the background on video calls; “vibe check” allows for cycling different audio profiles, color mode flips between dark and light mode, and there’s a fingerprint reader. You also get a Precision Pen 2 for stylus work, and of course, an electronic shutter for the webcam.
The Lenovo Yoga 9i will be offered in Storm Grey and Oatmeal, starting at $1,399 in the second quarter of 2022.
The Lenovo Yoga 7i
The Lenovo Yoga 7i will arrive in two screen sizes, 14″ and 16″, so you’re covered if you want compact and portable or big-screen goodness. Both versions will sport 12th Gen Intel i7 processors with Intel Iris X graphics, Dolby Vision, and TÜV-certified low blue light technology.
The Yoga 7i 16″ version will also offer the new Intel Arc graphics cards as an option for even more eye-popping graphics to truly take advantage of that larger screen. Both have a 91% screen-to-body ratio, rapid charging, and long battery life.
The 14″ Lenovo Yoga 7i will come in either Storm Grey or Stone Blue, starting at $949 in the second quarter of 2022, while the Yoga 7i with a 16″ screen will come in either Storm Grey or Arctic Grey, starting at $899.
Lenovo Yoga 6
The Lenovo Yoga 6 rounds out the Yoga line with a 13″ screen and a hefty dose of environmental awareness. It comes in either a recycled aluminum body or fabric cover made from recycled plastic bottles; the packaging is made from sustainable cardboard, and the internal cushioning is 90% recycled plastic. Even the power adaptor is made from 30% recycled plastics!
In addition, it is both ENERGY STAR certified, and EPEAT Silver certified. Besides the environmental bonafides, the Lenovo Yoga 6 will offer an AMD Ryzen processor, fast charging, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos speakers, meaning you get a powerful and portable computer that tries to balance out the environmental impact!
Look for the Lenovo Yoga 6 in the second quarter of 2022, starting at $749.00.
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Series
If you’re looking for a reliable and robust business laptop, you’re looking for a ThinkPad. Lenovo knows whether you’re working in the office or at home, you need audio, video, and connectivity that’s top of the line, and that’s what you’re getting in the ThinkPad series.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 10th Gen, ThinkPad X1 Yoga 7th Gen, and ThinkPad X1 Nano 2nd Gen might all be slightly different in their styles, but they’re all aiming to make work significantly more efficient.
They offer 360-degree quad-array microphones, Dolby Voice, OLED screens, high-end webcams, and ThinkShield privacy, like a shutter over the webcam.
Lenovo offers their new Computer Vision technology in select models, which features even more intelligent human presence detection. It will recognize you even when you are wearing a mask, adding an extra security layer, and it will only wake up and unlock for you.
Computer Vision technology also saves battery power because it can turn off or dim the display when you look away; this improves energy efficiency while adding an extra layer of privacy for working in a more public place.
I wasn’t aware that this was an issue, but Lenovo specifically mentions that Computer Vision technology is tuned to avoid unlocking if a cat walks by. So, if you have any cats with very human faces, I guess you’ll no longer need to worry that they’re going to order a lifetime supply of fancy feast with your Amazon account. Ha!
Suppose you’re on the go quite a bit. In that case, you’ll be happy to see that Lenovo has included several power-saving options, like Computer Vision that senses when you’re not looking at the screen and automatically dims it.
There’s also Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and optional 4G/5G connectivity. Best of all, the X1 series will also include integration with Tile, allowing users to track the location of their laptop even if it is shut down.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is a powerful laptop, and it starts at $1,639; the Lenovo Yoga X1 adds the flexibility of a 2-in-1, and it will start at $1,749. The Lenovo X1 Nano is the thinnest and lightest of the X1 family, and it starts at $1,659.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga are expected in March 2022, while X1 Nano should hit in April 2022.
