The Lowdown
The Scosche PowerVolt Traveler30 is a handy gadget. You’ll have to supply your own USB-C cable since it doesn’t ship with one, but once you have the charger and appropriate cable, it’s the one charger you’ll need in your bag if you want to keep your phone or tablet going while you travel.
Overall
Pros
- Small and compact
- Wall adapter prongs fold out, so they are safe when not in use
- Wall adapter works with 100V or 220V
- Car plug folds in for safekeeping and easily folds out when traveling by car
- 30W output is powerful enough to keep phones and tablets going while you travel
Cons
- The car power plug pivot seems a bit flimsy
- It doesn’t include a USB-C cable, so you’ll need to supply your own
It seems as if every device accessory manufacturer has gotten into the wall or car charger market. Scosche certainly has a wide range of offerings. One of their newest, the Scosche PowerVolt Traveler30, does something few if any, other chargers can. It’s both a wall and a car charger; that makes the $44.99 accessory an ideal travel charger.
The Scosche PowerVolt Traveler30 is a plastic square measuring 2 1/4″ on each side. It is just under an inch thick.
When closed, you can see the tip of the built-in 110 wall plug as well as the tip of the car charger. Thankfully, neither is exposed enough that it might become damaged when thrown into a bag.
Along one side, there is a USB-C port that indicates a 30W output. It is worth noting that It is a single port, so you’ll only be able to charge one device at a time.
The 110 prongs can be flipped out when used at home or a hotel, turning it into a fairly standard, single port 30W charger.
When done, the prongs easily flip back into the housing to keep them from being bent or otherwise damaged. It is worth noting that because the charger can work with 110V AND 220V, it is a universal charger that can be used anywhere, so long as you have the right prong adapter.
When in the car, the 110 prongs can be left in their folded position while the car power plug can be folded out.
This turns the Scosche PowerVolt Traveler30 into a 30W car charger.
The fact that the charger can be used both at home and on the road and can be used anywhere makes it a perfect travel adapter.
As Scosche puts it:
This compact Travel Charger is the ultimate travel accessory and packs a punch of power. The fold-out car charger plugs into a vehicle’s 12V DC outlet. Once you reach your destination, fold out the prongs and plug into a 110V AC wall outlet. Either option delivers up to a massive 30W of power to quickly charge a phone, tablet, laptop, camera, portable gaming system and more.
Features:
- Unique award-winning fold-out dual plug design charges in 12V DC car outlets or 110V AC wall outlets.
- 30W USB-C Power Delivery quickly charges phones, tablets, laptops, cameras, portable gaming systems, and more.
- A true Travel Charger, it works from 100-240V and can be used worldwide with a country-appropriate wall plug adapter.
- Fast charge all your devices with this powerful yet compact, advanced GaN (Gallium Nitride) charger
My only concern is that the pivot that allows the car power plug to fold into the main unit feels a bit flimsy, but only time will tell if it is up to the rigors of heavy use.

This might just be the ticket. Seems all the car chargers I’ve bought “trickle” at best
