Nomad iPhone 14 Cases Will Protect Your New Phone with Style

A few months ago, I was out riding my electric bike. My iPhone was in a cradle attached to the bicycle; after hitting a bump, it went flying. Thankfully, my phone was in a Nomad Sport Case, and it was fine. Needless to say, when my new iPhone arrived, it went right into a Nomad case; as you’ll see, there are some great Nomad iPhone 14 cases from which to choose.

Okay, so the story about my iPhone hitting the ground wasn’t totally accurate.

The truth is that after it went flying, and I found that the Nomad Sport Case it was in had kept it from getting destroyed, I was dumb enough to put my iPhone back into that same cradle. I got my bike up to 25 miles an hour, hit another bump, and, for the second time, my phone again went flying.

Between the speed and the drop, I was sure my phone was toast, but it was fine. The Nomad Sport Case was a bit damaged, but the iPhone was absolutely fine.

As for the phone cradle that failed me twice? That went into the garbage.

I’m an even bigger fan of Nomad’s cases if it wasn’t evident. Here’s a look at the new Nomad iPhone 14 cases.

Nomad Modern Leather Case

Made from premium leather, the Nomad Modern Leather Case for the iPhone 14 Series has an integrated neodymium magnet array, which works with all MagSafe accessories. Speaking of which, if you haven’t checked out Nomad’s MagSafe chargers, you should; they are fantastic!

The new leather cases result from a collaboration with a Danish tannery. The sustainably sourced leather is specially dyed, so they have bright colors but don’t lose the unique grain of the leather; over time, the leather will develop of dark patina.

The case may look like a refined fashion accessory, but it is also designed to offer serious protection, which is important when considering how expensive the new iPhones are.

Each case is lined in microfiber with a polycarbonate frame; a TPE bumper runs around the entire phone to provide 360-degree protection.

Nomad has tested the cases and says they will keep phones safe in drops of up to ten feet.

The case sells for $49.95; it is available for each of the new iPhone 14 models in black, brown, English tan, and Natural.

Interestingly, while Nomad has released these gorgeous leather cases for under $50, they are still offering their cases made from Horween leather in your choice of Black or Rustic Brown for $69.95. I’ve always been a fan of the company’s products that employ Horween leather. It looks and feels great, and as it ages, it takes on a beautiful, one-of-a-kind patina.

Still, the new leather cases look great and are significantly less money. I’m testing one out, and we’ll see over time if the new leather offerings hold up as well.

The Nomad Sport Case for iPhone 14 Series is a departure from its leather offerings but still very much a Nomad product. It is well-designed, looks great, and, as my bike story shows, this style case has proven to be quite protective. Available in Black, Lunar Gray, Ash Green, and Marine Blue, the Nomad Sport Case sells for $39.95.

The high-gloss back plate looks great, and the TPE bumper that wraps around the case offers added protection and a fair amount of “grippiness.”

The cases have been tested and can protect a phone from a drop of up to 6 feet.

The Sport Case has metal buttons that look great and are also quite responsive. Of course, these Nomad cases are also MagSafe compatible.

Features:

  • High-gloss, grippy backplate
  • Grippy TPE protective bumper
  • 6ft drop protection
  • MagSafe & wireless charging compatible
  • Case rises a bit above the screen for added protection

Nomad Sport Case for iPhone 14 Series

I love the feel of the Nomad Sport Case in my hand. That’s why it was the main case I used with my last iPhone and why I put one of the review samples on my iPhone 14 as soon as it arrived. The cases look great out of the box and, after months of use, remain looking brand new. While the smooth back makes it easy to slide the phone into and out of a pocket, the grippy sides make it easy to hold securely. Add in the cool colors and fairly low price for a premium case, and I think it’s clear why the Sport cases have become so popular.

Nomad Modern Leather Folio

Finally, for those who may want to ditch your wallet, there is the $59.95 Nomad Modern Leather Folio.

The Folio is basically Nomad’s Modern Leather case with the addition of a cover; it also offers 10ft drop protection.

The cover on the Nomad Modern Leather Folio not only protects the screen when closed, but it also has space for some cash, a few cards, and some receipts.

Nomad Modern Leather Folio can hold three ID or credit cards and some cash

Because the card storage is situated on the inside cover of the case, you will want to ensure your phone has a screen protector. Otherwise, you might accidentally put a metal credit card in the outermost slot; when closed, the metal will directly contact your iPhone’s screen.

At the same time, the storage placement in the front cover means this case is still 100% MagSafe compatible. For me, that’s an absolute must, as I cannot recall the last time I plugged my phone in to charge it.

A removable magnetic clasp is a cool feature that Nomad has added to the Modern Leather Folio.

You can use the clasp if you want to keep the cover securely in place when closed. If you don’t care about that and want the case to be a bit thinner, you can simply pull it out. It’s a neat concept that actually works well.

  • Full grain, sustainably sourced leather
  • Develops a patina over time
  • 3 card slots & 1 cash slot
  • Removable magnetic clasp
  • 10ft drop protection
  • Dual lanyard attachment points
  • MagSafe & wireless charging compatible

I’ve never been a huge fan of cases that include wallet-like storage. As I try to carry less, though, I’m considering giving this case a go. If I do, I’ll be sure to share my experience.

•••••

The new Nomad iPhone 14 Cases are great; there’s something for everyone with a range of different colors, styles, and prices. I’ve always loved the looks of Nomad’s cases, and from experience, I can tell you they hold up well over time. Most importantly, though, as my bike experience proved, Nomad’s cases are a great way to protect your iPhone stylishly.
