Cons

During Hanukkah this year, my wife Raina got me a Tooletries’ Face & Body Scrubber Set. I wasn’t sure what to do with the two silicon pads initially, but once I tried the scrubber set, I was hooked. I honestly don’t know why anyone would use a washcloth when this is available.

Tooletries' Ultimate Scrubber Set
The Tooletries’ Ultimate Scrubber Set is a fairly simple yet ingenious product. The kit includes a 5″ by 4.5″ body scrubber and a 2.3″ by 2″ face scrubber. Both scrubbers are made from silicone, which means they are soft enough to avoid harming your delicate skin but tough enough to hold up shower after shower.

Tooletries' Body Scrubber

One side of each scrubber has silicone “bristles” that are firm enough to exfoliate your skin but soft enough that they won’t tear at your skin.

The reverse side has a small grip that slides between your fingers. This becomes particularly important once you add soap or body wash into the mix and the scrubber becomes a bit slippery. The grip also lets you put a bit of muscle into your washing routine if you want even more exfoliating.

The Tooletries’ Ultimate Scrubber Set also includes a silicone hanger for each scrubber. On one side of the hanger, there is no-residue adhesive, so the hangers can be affixed to the shower wall, while the other side has a slot or a post so the scrubbers can be hung to dry after use. This also guarantees that your scrubbers will be within reach whenever you shower.

The company describes the scrubber set this way:

There’s nothing quite like a good scrub to get your morning started and this ultimate scrubber set takes exfoliation and hygiene to the next level. The 100% silicone scrubbers helps remove impurities to keep your skin invigorated and clean, while their partners keep your scrubbers clean, hygienic and secure when not in use.

Using the scrubbers is simple. Once you are in the shower or bathtub and wet, you put a bit of body or face wash on the bristle side of the scrubber and run it back and forth over your skin.

The small scrubber is not only great for your face, but since I keep my hair cut close to the scalp, I can also use it to wash and massage my head.

The Tooletries’ body scrubber has a larger surface, so it covers more area. The gentle exfoliating of the bristles feels great, and by moving the scrubber in a circular motion, you are pretty much guaranteed not to miss a spot. (As someone who loves having his back scratched, there have been times when I wished the bristles were a bit firmer or more sharply pointed, but that could potentially damage the skin.

As you can imagine, this scrubber set easily replaces a washcloth, which is great because washcloths can hold onto germs and odors if they aren’t replaced or cleaned daily.

The company notes that using this set offers additional benefits as well. They note that the face scrubber helps unclog pores, removes dead and dry skin, gets rid of “beardruff,” and helps prevent breakouts. The body scrubber unclogs pores, deep cleans, and helps boost circulation.

Tooletries' Ultimate Scrubber Set includes the scrubbers and handy places to keep them

I’ll be honest. When Raina gave me the Tooletries’ Ultimate Scrubber Set, I wasn’t quite sure what to make it. I was so unsure that I didn’t plan to put up the adhesive hangers for a while.

Then I used the scrubber set for the first time.

I loved the way it helps the body wash from suds. I loved how comfortable it was to hold and use. And I LOVED its ability to exfoliate without the slightest pulling, scraping, or tearing of my skin. I was immediately a fan and hung up the adhesive hangers. Since then, I’ve used the set every time I shower. In fact, when we went to Israel and Jordan for two weeks last month, I regretted not bringing them with me.

The Tooletries’ Ultimate Scrubber Set includes large and small silicone scrubbers and wall hangers for each. Whether you are using it at home or while traveling, this set will make your skin feel clean, exfoliated, and invigorated.

The Tooletries’ Ultimate Scrubber Set sells for $44; it is available directly from the manufacturer.

What I Like: Easy to use; Silicone doesn’t collect germs and will last for months, if not years; The “bristles” are firm enough to exfoliate but not so firm as to damage the skin; The included hangers keep the scrubbers within reach in your bathing area

What Needs Improvement: Nothing, but I would love a back scratcher with a similar design and firmer “bristles”

I’ve just shared this article with a friend of mine whose husband is a slob when it comes to his washcloths. This would be the perfect solution for them!
