Cons

  • The price

There are many excellent earbuds on the market today, and at $269, the Evolve 2 earbuds from Danish manufacturer Jabra have strong competition. What makes these stand out from the crowd is their specialization. The Jabra Evolve2 True Wireless Earbuds are a sleek and stylish set of wireless earbuds that are specifically designed for use in professional settings such as the office or during remote meetings. I’ve had the chance to test these earbuds out, and I’m really impressed with their overall performance and features.

The Jabra Evolve 2 in their charging case

The Jabra Evolve2 True Wireless Earbuds feature unified communications through a professional-grade USB adapter providing a more stable connection, and are certified for apps like Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom. With their advanced Bluetooth 5.2 multipoint, you can switch between your laptop and mobile phone back and forth without needing to reconnect.

If you are in an online meeting and get a call on your mobile phone, you receive a notification and can switch between the sources as needed. When using the Bluetooth dongle, the wireless range of the earbuds extends to 65 feet (20 meters), allowing for users to comfortably walk around their space without fear of lost connections.

The Evolve2 TWE feature adjustable ANC (active noise cancellation) technology which can easily be adjusted via the companion app to suit their working environment. Turn it up when you are in a loud environment and down or off when your space is quiet. The Evolve2 buds include an innovative feature called MyFit that tests the fit of the earbuds to ensure the user is getting the optimum passive noise cancelation.

MultiSensor technology with four MEMs microphones and two bone-conducting sensors improves voice clarity regardless of your surroundings. The microphones and sensors employ advanced algorithms that block environmental noise, enabling the wearer to be heard more clearly.

Advanced noise-canceling algorithms can be used to boost the balance of the sound picked up between the bone-conducting sensors and the microphones. When making calls from noisy and windy environments, the microphones are turned down while the bone-conducting sensors are boosted, enabling clearer communications.

The Hearthrough feature allows for instantaneous on/off switching without removal for coffee orders, boarding calls, or family interruptions.

A Jabra Evolve2 True Wireless Earbuds in a wearer's ear

The sound quality of the Jabra Evolve2 True Wireless Earbuds is excellent; they use 6mm speakers that deliver a clear, crisp sound with a good bass response. Fine-tuning audio for music listening is a matter of personal preference, and I found that at their default settings, music seemed a bit flat compared to other premium earbuds such as Apple’s Airpods Pro. The Jabra Evolve2 come with a companion app that provides an equalizer that makes these adjustments quick and easy and also protect your ears from sudden loud audio spikes through PeakStop, a safety measure that limits the maximum volume level.

The earbuds themselves are very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. They come with a range of different ear gels to ensure a secure and comfortable fit, and they are also lightweight and discreet. The earbuds are also sweat and dust resistant, which makes them ideal for use during workouts or in dusty environments.

The Jabra Evolve2 True Wireless Earbuds rely on a push-button outer surface rather than capacitive controls, unlike many other true wireless models. The left earbud handles playback, skips a track, goes back to the previous track, and summons your device’s voice assistant. The right bud answers incoming calls, mutes your mic, opens Microsoft Teams, and allows you to view notifications. You can also reject calls or toggle between the noise cancellation mode and the transparency mode that lets you hear your surroundings.

One of the standout features of the Jabra Evolve2 is their battery life. The earbuds themselves offer up to 8 hours of battery life when listening to music and 5 hours of talk time, and the charging case provides an additional 33 hours of battery life. This means that you can use the earbuds throughout the day without having to worry about running out of battery. If you do manage to drain the battery, the quick charge feature provides an hour of use with a five-minute charge.

The storage case takes two hours for a full charge via USB-C cable and can be used with any Qi-compatible wireless charging mat. As in previous versions, you may use one earbud while the other is charging. In this new version, you may use either.

The earbuds also come with a range of useful features, such as touch controls, voice assistant support, and customizable equalizer settings. The touch controls allow you to control playback, adjust volume, and take calls with ease, while the voice assistant support makes it easy to access your smartphone’s voice assistant. The customizable equalizer settings allow you to tailor the sound to your preferences, which is a nice touch.
