Cons

Riding a bike is a fantastic form of transportation. Whether commuting in a city, riding around campus from class to class, or just riding for enjoyment, a bicycle is an eco-friendly way to travel. An electric bicycle combines the ease of traditional cycling with motorized assistance and a rechargeable battery. I was sent a Lectric XPress 750 Step-Thru eBike to try; it was my first time using an electric bike, and I loved the experience.

The Lectric XPress 750 is a versatile, eco-friendly option for commuting and outdoor adventures. Powered by a 750W motor, it offers speed, durability, and ease of use. With its long-lasting battery, sturdy frame, and smooth ride, the Xpress 750 is ideal for riders seeking efficiency, convenience, and an enjoyable biking experience.

The XPress 750 arrives packed nicely and ready for assembly. The instructions were concise, and the bike was put together and prepared to go in just a few minutes.

My package came with the wrong battery for the Xpress 750, but Lectric customer service was pleasant to deal with and corrected the error quickly. The photo below shows all of the parts minus the battery before assembly.

My son assisted with assembly, including airing up the tires, and had the Lectric XPress 750 Step-Thru eBike ready to ride in mere minutes. He has limited experience fixing bikes yet still had no trouble with the instructions. If you’re like me and have spent much of your childhood working on bikes, you’ll find this task to be extremely simple.

The build materials are high-quality, and the fit and finish of the Lectric XPress 750 are professional.

The assembled Lectric XPress 750 Step-Thru eBike

As you might have guessed by the name, the Lectric XPress 750 Step-Thru eBike sports a 750W motor with Lectric’s Stealth M24 technology. The motor is super quiet yet plenty strong.

The 48v, 14Ah battery is built for the long haul and should provide plenty of power for long drives or multiple days of commuting. The battery fits nicely into the bottom of the bike’s frame and is unnoticeable.

One thing I like about the Lectric XPress 750 is its design does not scream electric bike. The features and power are plenty, but the bike will not attract unwanted attention. Two keys are included that lock the battery in place and prevent theft.

The handlebar design is unique to any bicycle I have ever rode. I was unsure if I would like the design, but it is comfortable, cuts down on arm fatigue, and makes steering easier. The groups are comfortably placed, and the controls are easily accessible.

Handlebars on the Lectric XPress 750 Step-Thru eBike

The Lectric XPress 750’s handlebars include front and rear hydraulic mineral oil brakes, which provide quick and smooth stopping power. The thumb-triggered shifter works the 7-geared freewheel, and shifting is smooth and fast with your right hand. A thumb button will also shift the bike up a gear.

The thumb throttle is below these controls, and it is used once the bike is in motion with the computer turned on to accelerate using the electric motor.

The left-hand grip includes the power button and controls for the onboard computer. Holding the power button turns on the computer; single-pressing the button toggles the bottom reading on the screen. The plus and minus buttons increase or decrease the pedal assist.

When the Lectric XPress 750 Step-Thru eBike’s computer is turned on, you can use four levels of pedal assist, depending on the desired power. A unique torque sensor with PWR+ technology helps manage the power output according to your pedaling effort. This helps you reach higher speeds more smoothly and easily and comes in handy on inclines.

I recommend testing each pedal assist level and getting a feel for your preference. If you are unfamiliar with eBikes, you’ll find it a unique experience that is easy to get used to. Now that I have used it, riding a bike without this feature would be odd for me.

The display on the Lectric XPress 750 Step-Thru eBike

The Lectric XPress 750’s backlit LCD provides trip and battery intelligence while riding. The screen is designed to be easy to read while riding so as not to take too much attention from the road. The battery meter is color-coded and easy to see at a glance. The speedometer is large, and the pedal assist level is below it. The bottom line can be toggled to get travel time and power readouts.

I found the display to be large enough that it was easy to read. I never felt like my eyes were searching for something, putting me at risk as a rider. The IP65-rated computer should survive rides in questionable conditions, keeping out dust and moisture.

The Lectric XPress 750 Step-Thru eBike is packed with features and has an attractive design. Riding is comfortable, whether as a regular pedal bike or with pedal assist, and the adjustable TC•Eighty suspension fork provides the perfect amount of shock absorption.

The battery is strong and lasts for longer rides, and the extra power on hills or if you get tired is second to none. The onboard computer is easy to view and use while on the go, and a headlight and taillight help keep you safe on the road. Even the kickstand is well-designed and the best I have ever used.
