In the world of gaming controller upgrades, SCUF remains at the head of the class with its SCUF Reflex Pro. SCUF officially partnered with Activision to launch a specially designed Reflex Pro for PS5 + PC in celebration of the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, featuring four customizable rear paddles, interchangeable thumbsticks, and a non-slip performance grip.
The SCUF Reflex Pro was designed to improve upon the classic Playstation 5 Dualshock controller by adding pro-level features like a non-slip performance grip and remappable back paddles that keep your thumbs on the sticks.
What’s cool about the Reflex Pro is that you can not only upgrade and personalize your play but also design your own controller using SCUF’s many different faceplates, trims, thumbsticks, and bumper colors and designs.
The Reflex Pro features adaptive triggers and vibration rumble, similar to those on the standard Dualshock controller, and weighs in at 300 grams. The interchangeable thumbsticks are an often overlooked feature, as they really let you personalize your controller to how you like to play.
You can go with a short and concave thumbstick to make quicker moves faster or go with a tall and domed thumbstick for more precise moves.
The customizable rear paddles are also a game changer, allowing you to assign these four paddles to any PS5 button function, ping enemies, or other quick functions while keeping your thumbs on the sticks for better reaction time. That split-second reaction time could be the difference between a win and a loss in FPS games like Call of Duty.
For those with sweaty palms, the performance grip is perfect for long play sessions. Its non-slip texture allows you to maintain your grip no matter how tough the competition is. The controller’s back also has a profile switch button, allowing you to save different customization profiles for different games or people. You can easily switch between them with a press of a button, so you’re ready to play at a moment’s notice.
The SCUF Reflex Pro is compatible with the PlayStation 5 and PCs with Windows 7+, Macs with Catalina+, and iPhones with iOS 10+. It weighs 300 grams and connects wirelessly via Bluetooth and wired via USB-C. The Reflex Pro also includes a USB-C port for charging and a 3.5mm Stereo headset jack.
Another really nice thing about the SCUF Reflex Pro is that it comes with a nice braided 6′ long USB-C cable for charging and a black semi-rigid case for traveling. It also includes 4 extra thumbsticks of varying shapes and sizes.
After 20+ hours of testing, I can confirm that the SCUF Reflex Pro feels great in the hand, the buttons respond well during play, and the rear customizable paddles definitely add a slight advantage. While I noticed a slightly less-than-expected battery life, I don’t think it would be noticeable enough for most players.
Speaking of battery life, my biggest complaint is that the Reflex Pro does not fit in most charging docks due to the rear paddles. I figured out that if I removed the two inner (smaller) paddles, it would fit in the charging dock I own, but it’s worth mentioning for those who rely on charging docks for their PS5 controllers.
Given the advantages of using an upgraded controller like the SCUF Reflex Pro, I can absolutely recommend it if you’re trying to level up your competitive gaming, especially FPS games like Call of Duty. The four customizable paddles, swappable thumbsticks, and no-slip grip are definite competitive advantages, and the completely customizable design is a really nice way to aesthetically personalize your gaming.
We love the SCUF Reflex Pro and recommend it to all gamers this holiday season.
