The Lowdown
The Titaner Ultimate Pocket EDC Kit (Pro 4-Piece Combo Set) is a unique and specialized bit of gear. If you are into the concept of everyday carry, then I do not need to explain these tools any further. They are beautifully crafted objects that are both useful tools and a kind of modern masculine jewelry. If you are new to the concept and carrying small tools doesn’t appeal to you, then the cost of the kit will probably seem prohibitive. Me? I just hope that I can borrow it from my son once in a while.
Overall
Pros
- Thoughtfully engineered and beautifully crafted
- Multiuse tools
Cons
- Marketing – these are multitools AND jewelry!
I must admit that prior to this review, I had barely heard the term “Everyday Carry” (EDC). For those unfamiliar with it, the term refers to a range of items that most people would find helpful to carry in their pockets every day. These typically include cell phones, wallets, keychains, knives, flashlights, and multitools, amongst other things. In this review, we look at the Titaner Ultimate Pocket EDC Kit, specifically the Pro 4-Piece Combo Set. The set includes the TiSpanner 2.0, the Falcon 1.0 Micro Knife, the Toothpick & Earpick, and the Imperial Tiroler 5-inch.
What are these, and of what use are they? The Titaner Ultimate Pocket EDC Kit includes small, precise, and exquisitely crafted tools meant to assist with tasks that you might come across every day. In some ways, they are solutions to problems that many didn’t realize that they have.
Who is Titaner? From their website:
At Titaner, we’re a tightly-knit tribe of avid outdoorsmen, visionary industrial designers, and master craftsmen. Since our inception in 2005, we’ve been trailblazers in the world of Everyday Carry (EDC) gear, redefining industry standards with our exceptional titanium creations.
The cross-section of “avid outdoorsmen, visionary industrial designers, and master craftsmen” gives a very good idea of who creates these tools and for whom they are intended.

Design
The first thing you notice about these tools is their attention to detail. The craftsmanship is excellent, and the small scale makes them feel a bit like jewelry, but these are multiuse tools. In fact, they are both.
I am certainly someone who appreciates well-designed and manufactured objects. I am also of the opinion that money spent on high-quality tools is seldom wasted. I was immediately drawn to the level of thought in the engineering of these objects, but I still harbored some doubts about their ultimate usefulness.
My eldest son has been very into EDC for years now, and only recently have I had a name for it. It made sense for him to test the tools and see what he thought.
Let’s put it this way: I don’t think that I am getting them back. He not only shares my appreciation of their precision and craftsmanship but finds daily uses for them, many of which hadn’t immediately occurred to me.
TiSpanner 2.0 Compact Titanium Multitool
As the name suggests, the TiSpanner 2.0 is the second iteration of this multitool. It is available in several material and finish combinations, including 304 Stainless Steel and Titanium in Sandblasted and Polished finishes. We are reviewing the Sandblasted Titanium version.
On the Titaner website, potential uses for the TiSpanner include a wrench or spanner, a bottle opener, a stand for your smartphone, a nail puller, and a measuring device with an integrated high-precision caliper.
On the bottom of the tool is a Tungsten Head, which can assist in opening cardboard boxes and even break car windows in an emergency. The shaft length on the back features a nail file crafted with diamond-coated material that can also be used to sharpen your blades on the go.
The other side of the shaft has a recess, where a tritium vial sits in the pro version of the TiSpanner 2.0. The vial is green by default, but other colors are available.
Falcon 1.0 Micro Knife
The Falcon is a folding knife with a closed length of 5.7cm (2.24”) and a blade that is 4.3cm (1.7”) long. With the exception of the blade, the entire knife is made of TC4 titanium alloy. The micro knife’s design has a few significant advantages; most significantly, it is unrestricted by airport security checks. Its blades are also very easy and quick to replace, and the knife ships with 20 replacement blades.
Due to its small size and thoughtful design, it conveniently fits in any pocket and remains safely locked until opened for use. The blades can only be removed when the knife is locked in a 120-degree position. When in this position, blade replacement takes only ten seconds.
Like the Multitool, the Falcon knife has a slot for the optional tritium vial. In the knife case, the slot is in the base of the handle. The knife is compatible with the industry standard type Blade 11. The small folding knife is very sharp and comes in very handy for a wide variety of tasks.
It is available in several finishes, including Weathered Grey (like our review sample) and the more colorful Nebula, Universe, and Flowing Clouds. Titaner also sells the Falcon 2.0, a larger version of the Falcon 1.0, which is made of Gr5 titanium and is compatible with six different blades.
Toothpick & Earpick
Made of the same titanium alloy TC4, the combination of toothpick and earpick may seem a bit like a one-trick pony, but it has proven to be a very versatile and useful tool. The lightweight (3.9g, .14oz) titanium material is hypoallergenic and does not affect the flavor of anything with which it comes in contact. It is also very durable and is resistant to corrosion and temperature.
As it is infinitely reusable, it is also environmentally friendly. It is useful for skewering food, working with minute tech, or personal hygiene. The tool also makes a unique pendant.
The tool’s overall length, with the toothpick end secured inside the earpick stem, is 67.5mm (2.65”). The tool has three components: the main stem and earpick, the toothpick, which is threaded on both ends of its base, and the end cap, which has a loop for attaching rings or cords.
The Toothpick & Earpick is available in Space Grey (as reviewed), Starry Blue, and Black; custom engraving is available.
Imperial Tiroler (5-inch)
The Titaner Tiroler is a measuring tool especially useful for determining the length of irregular surfaces and edges. It rotates a wheel inside a circular case, and a physical and audible click notes each rotation as it passes the zero mark. Each pass equals five inches (a 10cm version is also available). The tool measures by rotation, so it has no fixed length and can, therefore, measure any surface of any length.
The edge of the Tiroler has anti-slip stripes that maintain sufficient friction on the measured surface to ensure the rolling axle always measures accurately. Unlike any other tool, the Tiroler can measure irregular lines and edges, whether you are working around the house or on the job, doing a DIY project, or measuring a plan or map.
When it is not being used to measure, the Tiroler is a satisfying precision object to hold and fidget with. It is also an object that lives somewhere halfway between a tool and an art object, completely suitable to wear as jewelry. There is even a hard-carved version that adds a colorful futuristic theme to the ring’s exterior, giving it an even more unique look.
The Titaner Ultimate Pocket EDC Kit (Pro 4-Piece Combo Set) sells for $189.00 and is available directly from the manufacturer.
