If you’re the kind of person who likes to be prepared for anything — from a sudden weekend getaway to a full-blown zombie apocalypse, keep reading. We are looking at the First Tactical Tactix 3-Day Plus Backpack, and this isn’t just a gear bag; it’s basically a mobile base of operations that you can wear.

First off, this thing looks “tacti-cool” without being over-the-top. It features the Lynx Laser Cut Platform, which is a fancy way of saying it has a sleek, low-profile grid for attaching extra gear. It’s 20% stronger than traditional webbing, so feel free to hang your heavy-duty tech pouches or that oversized water bottle without fear.

With a massive 62.2-liter capacity (roughly 3,794 cubic inches), you could probably fit your entire home office in here. The main compartment measures 13” wide by 22” long x 9” deep. It opens 180 degrees, so no more digging like an archaeologist to find your charger at the bottom. There are 11 external pockets and 24 internal pockets. If you lose something in this bag, it might be gone forever (or just in the fleece-lined eyewear pocket).

The Tactix 3-Day Plus Backpack includes unique features that make it more than just a laptop backpack. The Hook and Hang Thru System is the “secret sauce.” It’s a specialized compartment that unzips at the top and bottom, allowing oversized gear (like a rifle sleeve or even certain long tools) to slide right through and hang securely.

The internal backboard is removable and can be used as a literal shovel in an emergency. It also doubles as a splint. Talk about multi-functional! It is built with HD spacer mesh and dual-density foam shoulder straps. Even when it’s fully loaded (and at 5.4 pounds empty, it can get heavy), it won’t make you feel like you’re carrying a boulder.

The Nitty-Gritty Specs

The First Tactical Tactix 3-Day Plus Backpack is made from 500D and 1000D water-resistant nylon, so it is built to handle rough weather, hard use, or even the occasional spilled latte. It uses YKK zippers throughout, which is a big deal because nobody wants to fight with a snagged zipper when they need to get into their bag quickly. The backpack also features Duraflex hardware for added durability and is available in Black, OD Green, and Coyote.

  1. Solid review. One thing worth mentioning – at 62L you’ll really want to grab the padded hip belt separately, otherwise your shoulders will hate you by hour three. The MOLLE setup is cleaner than most in this price range though.
