I’ve been using Bowers & Wilkins headphones and portable Bluetooth speakers for some time, and I’ve enjoyed that right out of the box they are perfectly tuned to my listening preferences. B&W also makes high-end bookshelf and floor-standing speakers. For 25 years, their 600 Series has been a more accessible introduction to Bowers & Wilkins’s home-audio line. To celebrate its silver anniversary, B&W is launching the 600 Series Anniversary Edition.
Bower’s and Wilkins 600 Series has made it a point to include better quality components and technologies than other speakers in their price range, which allows them to sound as good or better than even more expensive speakers offered by others. The 600 Series Anniversary Edition range has been upgraded with significant component improvements over the last generation’s.
The new 600 Series Anniversary Edition range features four models; each touts advanced technology and discreet styling. For the Anniversary Edition, Bowers & Wilkins has added a new oak finish on top of the matte black or matte white finishes that were previously available; a red cherry finish is also available as a special order. Acoustic performance improvements will include upgraded crossovers, upgraded high-frequency and mid-frequency capacitors, along with new and greatly improved bypass capacitors which have been specially treated by Mundorf and were originally used in the recently launched 700 Series Signature range.
The special Anniversary Edition updates will affect the 607, 606, 603, and the dedicated HTM6 center channel speaker; they will carry the new designation ‘S2’, and join the existing ASW608, ASW610 & ASW610XP subwoofers. There will also be a new 600 Series Anniversary Edition Theatre home cinema package, which will be based on the 603 S2, 607 S2, and the HTM6 S2 Anniversary Edition speakers, and it will include the ASW610 subwoofer.

603 S2 Anniversary Edition
The 603 S2 Anniversary Edition consists of floor standing speakers that deliver “outstanding power, scale, accuracy, and musicality.” They feature a “Decoupled Double Dome aluminum tweeter, a 150mm (6”) FST Continuum Cone midrange driver plus two 165mm (6.5”) paper-cone bass drivers.” The 603 S2 Anniversary Edition will sell for $1999.98 per pair.
606 S2 Anniversary Edition
The more compact 606 S2 Anniversary Edition works either on a stand-mount or on a bookshelf, to deliver “stunning resolution and tonal neutrality with outstanding bass extension.” The combine the “Decoupled Double Dome aluminum tweeter technology with a 165mm (6.5”) Continuum Cone mid/bass driver.” The 606 S2 Anniversary Edition will sell for $899.98 per pair. The STAV24 S2 floor stands will sell for $199.99 per pair.
607 S2 Anniversary Edition
The 607 S2 Anniversary Edition consists of even more compact speakers that can be mounted on stands or on a bookshelf. They offer “outstanding bass response and insight from its main 130mm (5”) Continuum Cone mid/bass driver.” The 607 S2 Anniversary Edition will sell for $699.98 per pair.
HTM6 S2 Anniversary Edition
The HTM6 S2 Anniversary Edition is a compact high-performance center-channel speaker that offers “considerable power and exceptional resolution and precision.” They feature the “Decoupled Double Dome tweeter plus dual 130mm (5”) Continuum Cone mid/bass drivers.” The HTM6 S2 Anniversary Edition will sell for $799.99.
600 Series Anniversary Edition Theatre
If you are starting from scratch the 600 Series Anniversary Edition Theatre has everything you need. It includes the 5.1 speaker package featuring 603 S2, 607 S2, HTM6 S2 Anniversary Edition plus the ASW610 active subwoofer. The 600 Series Anniversary Edition Theatre will sell for $4,299.94.
