Princess Leia Seized on NYC Subway!

You really have to hand it to the folks at Improv Everywhere – they sure know how to put on a show! Here is their description of their latest project:

For our latest mission, we staged a reenactment of the first Princess Leia / Darth Vader scene from Star Wars on a New York City subway car. The white walls and sliding doors on the train reminded us of the rebel ship from the movie, and we thought it would be fun to see how people would react to a surprise appearance by the iconic characters. We spread out the actors along the train line, staging it so they would enter the right car at the right time.

For me, while the excellent costumes and actors provided an excellent base (added kudos for the ‘Rebellion for Dummies’ book!), it is the audience that really makes the video worth while. Starting from the guy sitting next to Leia all the way through the woman who nearly gets her arm slammed in the closing subway door as she captures the Stormtroopers taking Leia away … the audience is simply priceless. Best subway ride EVER!
