Here’s a rather unusual iPhone dock that is looking for backers. The team behind the ODOC let us know that they are about half way toward reaching their financial backing goal. The way Kickstarter works, if they do not reach it the project will not go forward. Well… I like this dock and want it to happen, so we’ll focus on it today!!
Project Title: ODOC iPhone & iPod Dock: Elegant Design, Superior Function
Status: In Progress
Closing Date for Funding: Saturday June 9, 2012
URL of the Project: Find it here.
From the Creatives:
ELEGANT DESIGN: The meaningful visual theme of ODOC is the intersection of two pure geometric forms – a cylinder and a rectangle, punctuated with a few well considered and refined details. ODOC’s twisting function is an extension of the cylindrical form. The solid feel of the mechanism is augmented by a reassuring, audible click.
SUPERIOR FUNCTION: ODOC is a minimal, timeless design that cues user intuition. Simply twist ODOC’s cylindrical form to set the perfect angle for viewing and using the iPhone’s touchscreen display. A ball-bearing mechanism locks the cylinder in five different positions. This patent-pending design intrigues and delights the user through its intuitive function. The cylinder holds iPhones with or without cases, and its weight is sufficient for single-handed iPhone removal. Backrests of different thicknesses adjust for the iPhone without a case and with cases of different thicknesses, storing inside the cylinder when not in use.
Who at Gear Diary Backed It: Dan
At What Level Did We Back: I got in as one of the early bird backers which means I will get the dock for just $79. If you back now it will be a minimum of $109 to back and get a dock.
Why We Backed It: I backed this project for two main reasons. First, most of the docks I have been using offer only one angle for viewing. I like the idea of the multiple angles and think it could be rather handy. Second, I am rather impressed with the design here and want to encourage the folks behind it to succeed with the project and come up with others. After all, that’s really what Kickstarter is all about and it is one of the main reasons I will back a project.
How’s Communication From the Creatives Been?: Quite good with a few emails having already arrived, the last asking for help getting the project some additional traction.
What Has the Experience Been: Time will tell.
Would You Recommend this Kickstarter Project?: I would and I am. They need just under $40,000 more in backing if this is going to happen.
I’m in.. Its so cool looking…
